During a ceremony at the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg, President Putin said the frigate Admiral Golovko would join the Northern Fleet, while the small missile ship Naro-Fominsk and the minesweeper Lev Chernavin would serve in the Baltic Fleet.

“The introduction of the newest ships into the fleet proves that the Russian shipbuilding industry is developing strongly,” Mr. Putin said.

In addition, the Russian President informed that the Admiral Golovko - a mass-produced destroyer, is equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles and some of the most advanced technologies.

Meanwhile, the Naro-Fominsk small missile ship, which Mr Putin called one of the most successful projects, is capable of carrying out long-range cruise missile strikes. The Lev Chernavin is a modern minesweeper with a unique hull.

The leader stressed: “We will definitely implement all plans for shipbuilding and enhancing the quality and naval power of Russia in all strategic directions.”
