“On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between businesses of the two countries and about 20 agreements were signed,” the statement said.
At the Forum, according to Rosneft, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang made three proposals to further strengthen energy cooperation. In his view, the two countries should continue to actively develop infrastructure links in the energy sector, strengthen cooperation in renewable energy and low-carbon development, and resolutely protect the openness and connectivity of the global energy market.
In total, about 500 delegates attended the Forum events, including politicians , representatives of more than 100 largest Russian and Chinese enterprises in various industries, scientists and experts.
According to Rosneft head Igor Sechin, the businesses participating in the forum account for more than 45% of trade between Russia and China. Sechin noted that Russia wants to consolidate and strengthen cooperation with China along the entire value chain in energy and related areas, including technology, equipment supply and project financing.
For his part, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who attended the opening ceremony, said Russia sees great potential in increasing energy supplies to China. According to Novak, Russian energy exports to China in 2023 will increase by 17% compared to the same period in 2022.
The forum was held under the auspices of the Russian Presidential Commission on the Strategy for the Development of the Fuel, Energy and Environmental Safety Complex and the State Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China, and co-organized by Rosneft and CNPC.
The next VI Russia-China Energy Business Forum will be held in 2024 in the Russian Federation.
