The statement read: “On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between businesses from both countries and approximately 20 agreements were signed.”
At the Forum, according to Rosneft, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang put forward three proposals to further enhance energy cooperation. In his view, the two countries need to continue actively developing infrastructure links in the energy sector, strengthen cooperation in renewable energy and low-carbon development, and resolutely protect the openness and interconnectedness of the global energy market.
In total, approximately 500 delegates attended the Forum's events, including politicians , representatives of more than 100 of the largest Russian and Chinese enterprises in various industries, scientists, and experts.
According to Rosneft's head, Igor Sechin, the companies participating in the forum account for a total of more than 45% of trade between Russia and China. Sechin noted that Russia wants to strengthen and enhance cooperation with China along the entire energy value chain and related fields, including technology, equipment supply, and project financing.
For his part, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who attended the opening ceremony, said that Russia sees great potential in increasing energy supplies to China. According to Novak, Russian energy exports to China in 2023 increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2022.
The forum was organized under the auspices of the Russian Presidential Commission on the Development Strategy of the Fuel, Energy and Environmental Safety Complex and the State Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China, and co-organized by Rosneft and CNPC.
The next VI Russia-China Energy Business Forum will be held in 2024 in the Russian Federation.
