Việt NamViệt Nam09/01/2024

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development commended many collectives and individuals for excellently completing tasks and initiatives and solutions in 2023.

According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2023, agricultural production will still face many difficulties due to the adverse impacts of weather, increasing prices of agricultural materials and labor while agricultural product prices are unstable, and the risk of diseases on crops and livestock... However, with the effective and drastic direction and management of authorities at all levels and the efforts of the entire political system, the province's agricultural production has achieved some important results.

The situation of crop production is maintained relatively stable, the main crops grow and develop well; most agricultural products meet market demand. The application of scientific and technological advances in production is increasingly widespread, contributing to increasing productivity and quality of agricultural products in the province. The total cultivated area is 386,994 hectares, exceeding 2.8% of the plan and equal to 99.5% over the same period.

To develop crops with high economic value, the province has converted 1,631.6 hectares of crop structure. In total, the province has converted 40,615 hectares, contributing to increasing the average product value obtained per hectare of cultivated land to 109 million VND, an increase of 3 million VND compared to 2022.

Regarding livestock farming, there were no outbreaks of disease in livestock and poultry. Although the livestock farming situation was relatively difficult during the year, with high prices of agricultural materials and animal feed, in general, livestock farming still invested in developing herds and output compared to 2022. The total livestock and poultry herd is estimated at 10.2 million, up 6.2% over the same period, especially the pig herd reached 297,800, up 28.5% over the same period in 2022.

The highlight of recent times has been attracting investment in the livestock sector. Since the beginning of the year, the sector has attracted 17 projects (7 projects approved by the Provincial People's Committee for investment policy and 10 projects granted Investment Registration Certificates) with a total registered capital of VND 1,018.59 billion.

Mr. Tran Van Chien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Van Chien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that, besides the achieved results, the agricultural sector still has limitations that need to be overcome such as: the shift in crop structure is still slow; there are not many truly effective, sustainable and replicable models. Agricultural production applying high technology, mechanization, and developing deep processing for agricultural products of the province has not met the production shift process.

There are still businesses selling fertilizers, pesticides, animal feed, and food samples that do not meet quality standards; there are still many poor quality and counterfeit products on the market that do not ensure food safety. The implementation of some policies is still slow due to difficulties in procedures, processes, and conditions and regulations for policy beneficiaries.

Some breakthrough contents for agricultural development have been deployed and urged to be implemented but are still slow and have not brought high efficiency such as: implementing land use plans of companies to local management, attracting investment in applying high-tech agriculture in agricultural production, building production - consumption value chains.

Provincial leaders visited the Dairy Farm at Vinamilk Company (Ben Cau district).

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that, based on the results achieved in 2023, looking directly at reality to overcome existing difficulties, moving to 2024 - a breakthrough year to complete the tasks of the 2021 - 2025 period, accordingly, Tay Ninh agriculture focuses on completing targets such as: Maintaining the industry's GRDP growth rate of 3% or more; Increasing the value of products obtained per hectare of cultivated land from 109 to 112 million VND/ha/year; Maintaining the forest cover rate at 16.3%.

By the end of 2024, the whole province will have 68 new rural communes (95.8%), 25 advanced new rural communes (35.2%), 04 model new rural communes (5.6%); 04 district-level units will complete the task of building new rural areas (44.4%).

Also at the conference, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development commended many collectives and individuals for their excellent performance in tasks and initiatives and solutions in 2023.
