Trade and service sector: Bright spot in economic development

In the first months of 2023, the market has many fluctuations, people's purchasing power has been affected by the difficult economic situation. However, the trade and service sector has maintained a relatively high growth rate compared to the same period last year, as well as promoting the application of technology in business activities, diversifying types of services and retail.

According to the Dong Nai Statistics Office, in the first 6 months of 2023, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the province reached more than 127.3 trillion VND, an increase of about 14.3% over the same period last year. Some groups of goods had higher growth rates than the general growth rate such as: garment group; household appliances, tools, and equipment group; cultural andeducational items group; gasoline and oil products group...

* Promote consumer stimulus activities

The retail system and supply chain continue to develop, helping consumers have more shopping and entertainment experiences... At the same time, promoting the application of e-commerce in the circulation and distribution of goods, focusing on developing the domestic market, expanding the wholesale and retail distribution network and diversifying many forms, goods, services... Thereby, contributing to increasing revenue from the trade and service industry in the area.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first 6 months of this year, the province has developed 1 more supermarket (Go! Nhon Trach) and 28 convenience stores (including: 27 Winmart+ stores, 1 GS25 store). As of the end of June, the whole province had 6 shopping malls, 13 supermarkets and 285 convenience stores belonging to chains of major brands.

Many businesses and business units in the province have regularly updated prices, ordering methods, product details, promotions, and incentives specifically for each customer group and at different times...

In the first months of this year, the Industry and Trade sector continued to promptly and effectively implement programs to stimulate domestic consumption through consumption stimulation activities. Representatives of many supermarkets in the province said that through promotional programs, on major holidays and weekends, the number of visitors and shoppers at supermarkets increased quite a bit, with some days increasing dramatically by 2-3 times compared to normal days. Many service business chains proactively changed to adapt to new consumer trends.

Mr. Trang Phuc, representative of the Marketing Department of Co.opmart Bien Hoa, said that in recent months, especially during Tet, April 30 and May 1 holidays, summer vacation, etc., the supermarket has launched many promotional and incentive programs combined with the event to celebrate the 27th birthday of the Co.opmart system, including many discount programs, deep promotions from 30-40% focusing on most product lines, especially food, household appliances, cosmetics, clothing, etc. This contributes to stimulating consumption and attracting customers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi To Quyen (residing in Ho Nai Ward, Bien Hoa City) said that nowadays, eating and shopping are constantly changing according to life trends. Therefore, restaurant and food service models must also constantly change and adapt to meet all the needs and tastes of each customer group.

"Currently, in urban areas like Bien Hoa, it is not difficult to find restaurants and food service establishments with a variety of styles from East to West, Asian to European, and even seasonal "hot" dishes such as salted coffee, soursop tea, tamarind ice... Doing business is easier, more convenient and faster from both direct and online forms, gradually increasing competitiveness in the market, while helping consumers have more choices in spending, using and shopping" - Ms. To Quyen said.

* Develop digital service channels

In the province, trade and service business activities are relatively rich and diverse, goods on the market continue to develop well. In addition to the expanded commercial infrastructure, the province has also promoted trade promotion with many positive changes.

Director of Trong Duc Cacao Company Limited (Dinh Quan District) Dang Tuong Khanh said that recently, the company has focused on maintaining and developing marketing channels combining tourism, rest stops, as well as channels in large supermarket chains and e-commerce platforms. Thereby, contributing to expanding product promotion channels, promoting trade connections, developing customer segments, potential markets, etc.

In particular, the application and purchase of goods through online channels, especially e-commerce platforms, are growing strongly and widely, becoming an important distribution channel to help e-commerce activities maintain and have good growth momentum.

Accordingly, customers can use goods and services in the most convenient way through technology devices and the internet. Large supermarket systems, shopping malls, large and small stores are interested in effectively implementing the digital transformation process through building and maintaining effective applications and utilities on smart phone devices.

Ms. Nam Phuong, owner of Cam Cosmetic store (in Trang Dai Ward, Bien Hoa City), specializing in imported fashion and cosmetics, said that while customers used to feel hesitant when buying imported products, they are now more secure when they can trace the origin of products, check purchase invoices and documents via QR code scanning... In particular, she also promotes the introduction and promotion of her products and services on social networking sites Facebook, e-commerce platforms Shopee, TikTok Shop.

"To contribute to increasing revenue, increasing the number of new customers ordering products online and paying by bank transfer, I regularly diversify the import market, avoiding dependence on a few products and product codes. In addition, I also research and work with banks to provide QR code scanning applications, VN Pay to better meet customers' requirements for cashless payments" - Ms. Nam Phuong shared.
