On May 7, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai - Secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee visited and worked with the Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Ca Mau City).
Mr. Ngo Vu Linh - Principal of the school said that the school has 2 student dormitories and a communal kitchen that have been in use for more than 10 years and are seriously degraded. Although the school has temporarily repaired them, they cannot ensure the students' food, accommodation and dormitory activities.

According to Mr. Linh, the school has had difficulty enrolling 10th graders, as in the past 3 years, the enrollment quota has not been met, because very few ethnic minority children in the school's enrollment area are enrolled. Only children in the enrollment area are eligible for support from the State, while children outside this area, although enrolled, are not eligible for support. In fact, Ca Mau currently has only 1 ward in Region 1, 5 communes in Region III, which are in the school's enrollment area for 10th graders.
Some teachers at the Ca Mau Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities also petitioned the provincial leaders about the policy of supporting meal expenses, when some students receive them while others do not, even though they are in the same school. “In previous years, the school paid the same allowance to all students. However, in the past 3 years, according to regulations, some students received the allowance, while others did not,” said Ms. Danh Thi Chi, a Khmer language teacher at the school. Students who do not receive meal allowances must pay for their own meals, and for families with financial difficulties, this contribution is not small.
Taking note of the above recommendations, Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province assigned the Departmentof Education and Training, Ethnic Minorities and Religions, Home Affairs and relevant agencies to continue researching and proposing specific policies to support ethnic minority students.
Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee - Nguyen Ho Hai shared the current difficulties of the Ca Mau Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities. Mr. Hai also assigned the local Party Committee, government, and relevant agencies to continue to care, support, and have specific policies for the school's staff and teachers; consider proposals and recommendations, and promptly resolve the school's difficulties.
