Recently, the online community has been arguing about the origin and quality of the dish of intestines rolled into a pipe. In particular, the information that a restaurant owner filmed a clip introducing a 40m long piece of intestines rolled into a pipe has made many people wonder if there is such a long intestine?

Having opened a shop selling pipe intestines in Hanoi , Mr. Nguyen Tien Cong (from Phu Tho) made a clip sharing his perspective on the dish considered a "human delicacy", on a Facebook group called "Me long se dieu" with 35,000 members.

According to the clip shared by Mr. Cong, this person said that the inside of a pipe is not rare, but he has never seen fresh insides that are dozens of meters long. As for frozen ones, he has never bought/made them so he doesn't know.

"I used to open a shop selling offal on Quan Su Street, so I had to go out and 'hunt for goods' from midnight every day at slaughterhouses around Hanoi.

To get into the pig slaughterhouses, I had to rely on close relationships, but these slaughterhouses all have long-standing relationships so they save each other.

Every day I go out and get only a few ounces of the intestines to make cigarettes, some days I get 1-2kg, but not every day, sometimes I don't have any for a whole week, so I have to temporarily stop selling the intestines to make cigarettes" - Mr. Cong shared.

According to Mr. Cong, there is no large quantity of fresh pipe intestines to sell, and he has never seen pipe intestines several dozen meters long.

"I only see pipe intestines that are 3-5 meters long and not uniform, some are thick, some are thin. There are days when each family only gets a few pieces of pipe intestines that are a few spans long," Cong shared.

From experience and reality, Mr. Cong believes that not only in big pigs, black pigs or pigs raised for a long time, the intestines are as thin as... a mutated orchid, it can be due to water source, food or congenital.

"So is the pipe intestine expensive? Pipe intestines from slaughterhouses only range from 600,000 - 900,000 VND/kg, special ones are a bit more expensive. After processing, I sell them for 1.4 - 1.8 million VND, and the selling price of 2-3 million VND is a bit high" - Mr. Cong shared more.

After posting the clip, this article attracted many Facebook accounts that are "cigarette heart traders" to comment.

Agreeing with Mr. Cong's sharing, account Phuong Truong wrote: "It's true that it's not available every day, but the most accurate is that there are times when there isn't any for a week, there are days when there are 4-5 sets a day, but having a whole set is quite rare."

Account Nguyen Thoa shared: "Before, I had 10 years of pig slaughtering and saw exactly as you said. A family had a mother pig that gave birth to 10 piglets, sold them to 3 households, and all 3 households had piglets when slaughtered. So much so that the butcher who slaughtered one household saw piglets, so he asked the pig breeding house which family they had given the piglets to and went to buy those pigs at all costs."

This account added that some pigs have their entire entrails removed when they are cut open, but some only have half of them.

"My family has been butchering pigs for 30 years, but the intestines of a pig can be counted on one hand. They are not tens of meters long. A pig with good intestines is probably about 2-3 meters long, the rest is just small intestines" - commented Nga Minh.
