On the afternoon of August 23, information from the Forest Protection Department of Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc province, indicated that the unit had just received a python voluntarily handed over by a local resident to be released back into its natural forest environment.
The animal was discovered by Mr. Nguyen Ha Quang (residing in Hamlet 4, Dong Nai Commune, Bu Dang District) crawling on the corrugated iron roof of a nearby house, so he managed to capture it. After learning that the python is a rare and endangered wild animal, Mr. Quang contacted the Bu Dang District Forest Management Unit to hand it over, hoping it could be returned to its natural habitat.
After being received, the python was handed over to the Conservation, Tourism and Rescue Center of Bu Gia Map National Park for care and monitoring. When all conditions are met, it will be released back into its natural forest environment.
The Burmese python, scientifically known as Python molurus, is classified as a Group IIB endangered and rare forest animal.
