NDO - On the evening of November 17, the Ministry of Education and Training , the Vietnam Education Trade Union, and Vietnam Television jointly carried out the program "Instead of gratitude" in 2024, with the theme "Hope". The program was broadcast live on VTV1 channel.

Attending the program were leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, representatives of leaders of several central departments and branches, and more than 400 teachers representing more than 1 million managers and teachers nationwide.

In order to bring specific, simple but touching and inspiring stories in "On behalf of gratitude" in 2024, the production team went to many provinces and cities such as Ha Giang, Yen Bai , Thua Thien Hue, Gia Lai... to meet the characters, make reports about teachers who are devoted to the cause of education, dedicated to their profession, and strive to innovate and improve the quality of teaching.

Along with that, in the live interaction with teachers at the program, the audience also got to hear teachers confide and open their hearts about the years of being attached to the teaching profession, with hardships, difficulties, challenges and joys, sweet fruits, successes...

That is the journey of bringing literacy to the H'Mong ethnic people at Phong Du Thuong Primary School (Van Yen district, Yen Bai province); the free bread cabinet of teacher Vu Van Tung for poor students of Dinh Nup Primary and Secondary School (Po To commune, Ia Pa district, Gia Lai province)...

For nearly 5 years now, teacher Vu Van Tung, a teacher at Dinh Nup Primary and Secondary School, has become close and familiar to the people of Po To commune, Ia Pa district (Gia Lai) because he wakes up at 4am three times a week and travels 40km to school with a box of bread for poor students. According to teacher Tung, if you want the students to go to school and study fully, you have to solve the problem of food. It is also from that meaning that the "Free Bread Cabinet" fund was born.

Mr. Tung shared that the school is located in a particularly difficult socio-economic area, 90% of the population is Ba Na, the process of teaching students to read and write here still faces many difficulties. Every day, he has to go to the fields to pick up students with the hope of instilling in them a passion for reading and writing, because only knowing how to read and write can bring hope to them in the future.

According to statistics, along with providing breakfast for about 200 students every week, from 2021 to now, the "Free Bread Cabinet" Fund has given seven breeding goats and 15 breeding cows worth more than 200 million VND to 18 students with especially difficult circumstances at Dinh Nup Primary and Secondary School and schools in Ia Pa district and neighboring areas. Loving and respecting Mr. Tung, the village elder named him "Dinh Tung" meaning a son with the surname of the Ba Na people.

Speaking at the program, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son shared: For many years now, the program "Instead of gratitude" has been organized and broadcast on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, as a gift, a thank you to teachers across the country. Each year, the program chooses a theme, conveys a message and this year's theme is "Hope".
