United Nations (UN) member states recently said that weapons provided by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to security forces in Afghanistan are being transferred to the terrorist organization Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K).

In its 17th report on the threat posed by the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization to international peace and security , UN member states expressed concern about the proliferation of large quantities of weapons and other military equipment in Afghanistan and neighboring countries.

The report added that IS is building a so-called Industrial Committee to improve its weapons, such as improving explosive devices or increasing the payload of drones. In addition, the report also noted that IS is the most serious terrorist threat to Afghanistan and the region.
