After 2 previous easy victories, early this morning, March 2, Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the quarter-final match against Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand). Ratchanok Intanon, the 2013 world champion, is currently ranked 14th on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.
This is truly a huge challenge for the Vietnamese tennis player, because she has never won in previous encounters.

Thuy Linh created a better advantage over the Thai player. Confidence along with a diverse attack style helped the Vietnamese player quickly create a safe gap in points.
Continuously leading helped the number 1 female tennis player of Vietnam play brilliantly and win 21-13 in the first set.
In the second set, Nguyen Thuy Linh continued to play well while Ratchanok Intanon failed to show her strength. The former world number 1 played better than in the first set, at times narrowing the gap to 2 points compared to the Vietnamese player. However, Thuy Linh took advantage of the opportunities better and won with a score of 21-15.

With the victory over the Thai player, Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the semi-finals of the women's singles event of the 2024 German Open badminton tournament.
The Vietnamese tennis player's opponent is the winner of the match between second seed Kim Ga-eun (Korea, world rank 13) and Supanida Katethong (Thailand, world rank 17).
