Share difficulties and "share the fire" with workers

Early in the afternoon of a mid-July day, the weather in Thanh Hoa was scorching hot. In his sweat-soaked uniform and with hurried steps, Lieutenant Colonel Dang Duy Thai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Factory Z111, General Department of Defense Industry, directly inspected the production progress of each workshop. Every day, if he was not busy with business trips or attending meetings, he and his comrades in the Party Committee and Board of Directors often spent most of their time going down to each workshop to visit, encourage, and "share the fire" with the workers.

At the Nong Workshop (A8), the Director meticulously inspected the machinery system, directly disassembled a part of the spraying machine, closely observed the mechanical details to assess the level of wear during the processing. After that, he carefully recorded the points that needed improvement in the notebook, then quickly discussed with the technical department how to fix and maintain.

Not only checking the machines, he also proactively approached each production line, asking each department about the work progress and quality of each product. After checking each stage, he gave close instructions to improve the productivity of the next stage. Along with that, he ensured the best conditions for workers while performing their tasks.

Leading technology, improving export quality

Visiting the production lines of the unit, we were told by Colonel Do Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the Factory, that in the 2020-2025 term, the Factory Party Committee has focused on drastically leading the application of science and technology in production, thereby contributing to reducing costs, liberating labor, and improving product quality. As a result, the Factory has produced and repaired hundreds of thousands of defense products with tens of millions of details of various types of weapons, meeting well the requirements and tasks of training and combat readiness; effectively implementing military trade, promoting capacity, expanding cooperation, diversifying partners and economic products... creating momentum for the strong development of the Factory in the period of integration and development of the modern defense industry.

According to Colonel Do Hong Quang, the efforts of the Factory do not stop at improving product quality but also affirm the proactiveness in adopting technology, knowing how to apply automation processes in weapons production, gradually improving the design and production capacity of defense products. Currently, some new generation infantry gun products have been completely mastered by Factory Z111, from design to manufacturing, meeting the increasing demands of the Army and international partners.

In particular, not only focusing on developing domestic production capacity, in recent years, Factory Z111 has also paid great attention to developing international cooperation in the field of weapons research and production. Currently, the unit has signed contracts with many international partners to help improve product quality, improve production processes, and at the same time create opportunities for the Factory's staff and engineers to learn and exchange experiences with foreign partners.

As a result, from 2020 to present, the total revenue of the Factory has reached more than 4,135 billion VND, an increase of 41.2% compared to the period 2015-2020. In 2024, the revenue value of the Factory will reach 970 billion VND, equal to 106.5% of the annual plan, an increase of 14.6% compared to 2023; average income will reach 20.5 million VND/person/month... The average income per capita in 2025 is expected to reach 22.56 million VND/person/month, an increase of 39.7% compared to 2020. In the 2025-2030 term, the Party Committee of Factory Z111 determined to focus on completing 100% of the defense production tasks to ensure quality, progress and absolute safety. Strive for an average growth rate in revenue value of 12%/year or more; Average income increases by over 7%/year, striving for an average income of over 31 million VND/person/month by the end of the term; economic production revenue increases by 25%/year or more.

Focus on training and retaining human resources

In fact, science and technology play a key role in improving the production capacity and business efficiency of Factory Z111, while helping the unit maintain its leading position in the weapons and military equipment manufacturing industry, meeting the increasing demands of national defense modernization.

Talking with Colonel Hoang Quoc Vinh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Z111, we learned that in the quarterly and annual leadership resolutions of the Party Committee of the Factory, in addition to the goals and drastic solutions to continuously improve production and business capacity and product quality, the unit especially attaches importance to building high-quality, skilled human resources, considering it a decisive factor in the quality of completing the unit's tasks.

Accordingly, the Factory Party Committee regularly pays attention to building and promoting scientific and technological human resources on the basis of effectively using the existing staff and technical staff. In particular, the unit arranges labor in each field, production and repair stage according to capacity, expertise, professional ethics; prioritizes high-quality human resources for the research and development department and product calibration and acceptance. The unit takes qualifications, capacity, skills and ethics as standards in recruiting labor and appointing staff; ensuring harmony between the requirements of production and business development and stability.

Realizing the importance of applying science and technology to production, in recent years, the Party Committee of Factory Z111 has focused on leading the building of scientific and technological potential, focusing on investing in building, consolidating and upgrading facilities and laboratories. The planning, training and fostering of staff doing scientific research has been given special attention and close direction by the Party Committee of the Factory. Priority is given to building a team of technical staff with sufficient quantity and quality, mastering new technologies, meeting requirements and tasks. Along with that, the management of scientific research topics and tasks is strictly ensured in accordance with regulations. In particular, there are appropriate incentive policies for topics and initiatives effectively applied in production and business.

According to Colonel Hoang Quoc Vinh, the Factory also focuses on strengthening coordination with research agencies and product consumption units, such as: Weapons Institute, Technology Institute, Military Technical Academy, factories, etc. to exchange research results, find optimal solutions for design, production of equipment, products, and complete well the topics and tasks. Along with that, the unit promotes emulation movements: "Good workers, creative workers"; "Mechanization, automation"; "Integration and development of military enterprises", etc. to promote scientific and production activities associated with improving the lives of workers. Thanks to that, the Factory has completely mastered the technology of producing new generation infantry guns; producing all types of rifled infantry guns, traditional products to meet the needs of weapons and equipment of the entire army.

Focus on promoting scientific research

From 2021 to present, the Factory has completed 12 General Department-level topics, 52 grassroots-level scientific topics and tasks, and applied 654 technical innovation initiatives to production, etc. The Factory regularly organizes visits, research, and study at facilities with strong technical and technological capacity, especially from foreign partners, in the fields of high technology and precision mechanics. Coordinate research with scientific units to exchange experiences, absorb and inherit technological achievements. From there, establish strong research groups to turn acquired technologies into unique technologies, quickly put into production; especially creating new products with high intellectual content, not dependent on materials and technology from abroad. Along with that, the Factory attaches importance to organizing internal training on new technologies; improving production processes; protection, labor safety, environmental sanitation; CNC machining programming,... helps technical workers effectively exploit technological lines, ensure production progress and reduce scrap rate.

In recent years, Factory Z111 has also effectively implemented research on scientific and technological topics and tasks at all levels, completed many mechanization and automation projects and applied technical innovation initiatives effectively to production, contributing to improving labor productivity and product quality. The factory is also actively implementing in-depth investment projects, investing in new high-tech equipment to develop new, high-quality products to serve the needs inside and outside the Army.

It can be affirmed that over the years, Factory Z111 has always been a steadfast pioneer in applying modern technology and improving the quality of defense products. The constant creativity and innovation of the staff, workers and laborers have helped the unit successfully complete its tasks, making important contributions to the modernization of the Army. This is a clear demonstration of the determination, creativity and responsibility of the staff and Party members of Factory Z111, a unit twice a hero of the People's Armed Forces.
