Tan Viet Bookstore apologizes for globe with cow tongue line

This information was provided by Ms. Nguyen Kim Thoa, director of Tan Viet Books, in an interview with Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of June 20th.

Also this evening, June 20th, Tan Viet Books posted an apology on its social media pages.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, Ms. Thoa said that these globes had only been displayed yesterday, June 19th, and none had been sold yet when they were discovered by readers that same afternoon.

These globes are part of a shipment of 48 globes that were officially imported at the end of May.

This also marks the first time Tan Viet Books has imported this item to meet customer demand. Previously, the company only sold globes manufactured domestically.

The company has only put five globes from this batch on display at Tan Viet Bookstore's Vincom Royal City branch; they haven't been distributed to any other bookstores yet.

As soon as customers discovered the issue, the company immediately recalled the products, held an emergency meeting with relevant departments to review the incident, rectify the problem, and learn valuable lessons.

The company will destroy all products bearing the illegal nine-dash line map and take corrective action against the department responsible for importing the products.

Acknowledging the negligence in the product testing process before import and sale, Ms. Thoa offered her apologies to all readers, customers, and the public.

Regarding this matter, a representative from the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution stated that they are aware of the incident and have requested Tan Viet Books to provide a detailed report and explanation. The department will take strict action if any violations are found.

Regarding the illegal nine-dash line map, recently some cultural products and films released in Vietnam have been discovered by citizens, and the authorities have promptly taken strict action.
