Speaking at the award ceremony, the former child prodigy said that recently he has not seen children writing poetry anymore.

Bitter question for Tran Dang Khoa: Who ate the child prodigy?

Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association Tran Dang Khoa said that all the famous poets of his time no longer continue to write poetry for children, only he remains "creaking" in the field of words, sowing verses for children.

The De Men children's literary composition award of the Sports and Culture newspaper has been awarded for five seasons, but only three seasons have found the Knight of De Men and none of them have produced any poetry "prodigies".

Some children won the Cricket Aspiration Award but in the prose category.

This reality is not new, but nearly ten years ago there was an article titled Who ate the child prodigy?

Once a child prodigy in poetry, Tran Dang Khoa finds the question "bitter". He admits that recently he hardly sees children writing poetry anymore.

But he asserted that "no one eats child prodigies, it's just that child prodigies have not been awakened yet."

He cited a recent example, when he went to present an award at an elementary school in Dak Nong . He was asked by the organizers to guide the children in writing poems and he showed the children how to write poems in 15 minutes.

Then he gave the students the task of writing a poem about Climate Change.

Very quickly, he received a very interesting, graceful, and cute poem written by each child "right on the spot".

Tran Dang Khoa has no doubt that children of all ages are full of talent and have a loving heart to nurture beautiful poems. It is just a matter of how parents, teachers, and society can awaken those talents and hearts.

He personally also wants to contribute to discovering and nurturing poetry prodigies. By doing so, if the De Men Award finds children who write poems to be awarded the De Men Knight Award, he will give his personal prize worth the same as the prize of the organizing committee to that De Men Knight .

Writer Ly Lan was awarded the Cricket Knight Award.

Regarding this year's De Men Award, the organizing committee awarded the highest award, the De Men Knight Award, to writer Ly Lan for Autobiography of a Pig (Tre Publishing House) and her contributions to children's literature throughout her life and career.

Ly Lan is the third writer to be awarded the Knight of Crickets after Nguyen Nhat Anh and Tran Duc Tien.

Writer Ly Lan is in the US and was not able to receive the award in person. Through an online video, she said she was very happy and surprised to receive the award.

The first prize was for a work she wrote in a satirical style - a style that, according to her, few people write in Vietnam.

In addition, 5 Cricket Aspiration Awards were presented to: Writer Lu Mai with the manuscript of the novel Under the Green Sky and poet La Thanh Ha with the poetry collection Secret Little Kingdom (illustrated by Nhu Quynh, Hanoi Publishing House, Crabit Kidbooks); LinhRab with The Adventure of Cricket Ut (4-volume comic book series, Kim Dong Publishing House);

And Moon, where do you come from? (song by Thai Chi Thanh, based on the poem by Tran Dang Khoa) for music; Mysterious Library (manuscript of a comic book by Le Sinh Hung, 14 years old).

Two works were awarded the Jury Prize:

- The children's book series in the Soul Cultivation series (Kim Dong Publishing House) by writer May includes Pretty Pillow Bread (drawn by Thu Cao) and Santa Claus and the Adventures of New Shoes (drawn by Thao Vo).

- The Golden Monkey Bap in Ru Mo (draft of a novel by Dang Chuong Ngan).
