The serious incident occurred on Water Street, Liverpool city center, leaving 47 people injured, including 4 children. Police quickly arrested the 53-year-old man driving the car into the crowd, throwing some onto the bonnet and running over at least 4 others.
Daniel Jones - standing a few meters away shared on The Sun : "I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a horrifying scene that scared many people. Medical staff knelt down to give first aid and treat the injured. Luckily, my wife had just gone to the hotel with our 3-year-old son."
Witness Hayley said: "It was shocking and sad. The van suddenly spun out of control and I heard people screaming. Most thought it was a terrorist attack. We don't know how the van got onto Water Street. He hit the accelerator and drove into the crowd at full speed. People rolled out and got crushed by the wheels. I think there were about 40 people."

Natasha Rinaldi, who watched the parade from her hotel room, told Sky News : "The loud noise scared everyone. I looked out the window and saw the car running over people. Some ran after the driver and tried to break the glass. The police did everything they could to stop and push people away. I was very confused and just heard screaming."
Chelsea Yuen, who was walking with her friend and her young daughter, was lucky to avoid the car. She said: "The road was packed. We were walking like sardines down the street and then we heard beeping and people screaming. When we looked up, a car was coming towards us at about 50 km/h. My friend and I immediately jumped out of the road and pulled our little daughter with us. It happened so fast."
The incident happened at around 6pm (local time) on Water Street, Liverpool city centre, when thousands of fans gathered to celebrate the "Red Brigade's 20th national championship title".
Liverpool's joy at winning the 2024/25 Premier League title was overshadowed by a horrific accident. The car involved in the accident, described as "running straight into the crowd", left at least four people hospitalized on stretchers and many others injured.
