Reporting at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan, Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital, said that all leaders, officials and employees of the hospital proactively and promptly responded, minimizing damage caused by floods, ensuring absolute safety for patients and maintaining continuous and effective professional activities.

Although floodwaters flooded some departments and rooms on the first floor of the hospital, patients were assisted to move to the second floor safely, and 100% of medical equipment and machinery were protected. During the rainy and flood days (from October 27 to 31), the hospital received more than 10,200 patients for examination and treatment, and emergency and intervention work was guaranteed.

"In the coming time, the hospital will continue to strengthen its capacity to prevent natural disasters, protect facilities against flooding, increase response drills, and contribute to protecting people's health in all natural disaster situations," Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan emphasized.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen highly appreciated the proactive spirit, responsibility and efforts of the Hue Central Hospital in responding to the floods. The Deputy Minister commended the medical staff who were on duty for many consecutive days in the flood conditions to maintain emergency care and treatment for the people.

"Today I walked on the street and observed, Hue is really proactive. The roads are clean, restaurants and shops are open again. In the hospital, the space is clean after the flood, that proves that the hospitals have prepared to respond to floods in advance, not passively," said the Deputy Minister.

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized that in case of natural disasters, Hue Central Hospital must maintain and ensure emergency care and treatment for inpatients, and at the same time have mobile emergency teams ready to support external hospitals in case of serious incidents. In addition to ensuring professional activities, the hospital needs to support people in the surrounding flooded areas, creating conditions for them to stay safely when necessary.

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen requested Hue Central Hospital to strengthen and perfect the hospital's Civil Defense Command Board, in which the hospital director is the head of the board.

The Command Committee should be organized with two sub-committees: the forward sub-committee, which establishes mobile emergency teams, with adequate medicine and medical supplies. The rear sub-committee ensures logistics, treatment, and on-site patient care.

"The top priority is to examine, diagnose and treat patients. To help patients during floods and storms still be examined, treated and cared for, that is the most valuable asset," Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized.
