Reporting to Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, Master, Doctor Nguyen Tai - Director of Quang Nam Regional General Hospital said that the recent historic flood that lasted for 4 nights and 5 days submerged the hospital from 1.2m to 1.5m deep, completely isolating it. The number of people isolated at the hospital was 1,400, including 850 patients, 420 relatives and 130 medical staff.

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen visited and presented gifts to patients being treated at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital.
According to Dr. Tai, as soon as the information about the impending flood was received, the hospital urgently moved machinery, equipment, supplies, medicine, etc. to the second floor and did not let patients have any interruption in treatment. It ensured a backup power source with 2 generator systems to maintain continuous power for the Intensive Care - Anti-poisoning Department, operating room, artificial kidney, etc.
"The hospital has closely coordinated with the Army, Police and benefactors to promptly distribute meals and drinks to each patient and their family members, ensuring that no one goes hungry during the isolation period," said Dr. Tai, adding that immediately after the flood receded, the hospital coordinated with 250 officers and soldiers of the Da Nang City Military Command to overcome the consequences of the flood such as: clearing mud, spraying disinfectants...

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen presented gifts to Quang Nam Regional General Hospital.
"With the timely direction of the City People's Committee, the leaders of the Department of Health and the solidarity of all officials and employees, the hospital has proactively responded to the floods, minimizing damage, preventing human casualties; maintaining regular, continuous and uninterrupted medical examination and treatment.
Along with that, the City Police and the Military Command also provided timely support to overcome the consequences of the flood, so the hospital soon returned to normal operations," said Dr. Tai, adding that as soon as they received news of the impending flood, the hospital's Board of Directors promptly activated emergency precautions, with drastic actions and specific plans, all for the sole purpose of patient safety.

During the recent flood, Quang Nam Regional General Hospital was flooded from 1.2 to 1.5 meters deep.
After inspecting Quang Nam Regional General Hospital, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen highly appreciated the hospital's flood prevention work.
"I came to visit patients and observe immediately. In addition to the direction of the city and the Department of Health, the hospital's flood prevention work is very proactive, responding immediately from the beginning. If we were passive, we could not have had the results we have now. Although the hospital has just been flooded, the rooms are clean, and medical examination and treatment work is still maintained regularly and continuously," said the Deputy Minister.

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen presented gifts to Ba Na Commune Health Station.
Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen also highly appreciated the close coordination between the hospital and the functional forces, demonstrated by the Police and Military forces in supporting the emergency treatment of patients and overcoming the consequences of the floods. Especially the efforts and hard work of the hospital's staff, workers and employees, regardless of the rain or wind; many staff were on duty at the hospital for 4-5 consecutive days to participate in the treatment and emergency treatment of patients even though their homes were also flooded.
Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen said that storms and floods are no longer as regular as before, not only appearing from June to October, but the circulation after the storm can still cause flash floods, flash floods, and unpredictable damage. Therefore, it is necessary to proactively develop a natural disaster prevention plan for 2026, prepare a readiness plan from the beginning and regularly monitor weather and storm developments on the media to have timely and effective responses.
Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen requested Quang Nam Regional General Hospital to continue to strengthen the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and establish two sub-committees: frontline and rearline to proactively respond when floods occur.
In particular, the frontline subcommittee is a mobile emergency team, responsible for preparing a full range of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment for rescue work. The rearline subcommittee needs to forecast and calculate evacuation plans: where will patients be transferred from the first floor to the second floor, where will the emergency area be located, and how will supplies and medicines be moved in the event of a flood.
The Deputy Minister emphasized three core issues that hospitals need to pay special attention to in all flood situations: electricity system, water source and oxygen for patients - key factors to ensure that medical examination and treatment activities are not interrupted.
The Deputy Minister also suggested that after the floods, the Department of Health should consider giving certificates of merit to active groups and individuals to encourage and motivate hospital staff.
On the same morning, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen and his delegation also inspected the flood response and recovery work and visited and encouraged medical staff at Ba Na Commune Health Station.
