Quickly research support plans for fishermen practicing trawling

On the morning of December 31, Comrade Le Van Dung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Nam province chaired a meeting to receive citizens and resolve complaints from citizens from the coastal communes of Tam Hai, Tam Quang, Tam Tien and Tam Hoa in Nui Thanh district. The meeting was held online at the connecting points of the 4 communes.

During the meeting, fishermen in Tam Hoa, Tam Tien, Tam Quang and Tam Hai communes proposed that the Provincial People's Committee consider allowing them to continue to practice coastal dredging. According to fishermen, in recent times, frequent rough seas have made it difficult to go offshore to fish. At the same time, the complete ban on coastal dredging has seriously affected people's lives. People said that if coastal dredging is banned, the government should have a plan to support appropriate job changes so that people can maintain their income during the rough sea season.

The citizen reception was held online at the connecting points of 4 communes.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung emphasized that the ban on trawling is the Government 's policy to implement measures to remove the IUU yellow card (illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing) and protect long-term aquatic resources. Therefore, fishermen need to strictly comply and stop trawling.

Comrade Le Van Dung assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to quickly develop a project to change fishermen's jobs, in order to stabilize the lives of those affected by the ban on trawling. The project will be submitted to the Provincial People's Committee and Provincial People's Council for guidance.

In the immediate future, the Nui Thanh district government has a plan to support fishermen, ensuring that no fishing household goes hungry during the Lunar New Year, helping people enjoy the traditional New Year.
