
This activity aims to further strengthen the solidarity between the military and the people, contributing to the local implementation of social welfare policies and military rear-area support policies, creating a joyful and warm atmosphere to celebrate the glorious Party and the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.
Accordingly, the peak of the Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration for the military and civilians will take place from January 28th to 30th, 2026 (from the 10th to 12th day of the 12th lunar month) in five communes and wards: Cai Rang ward, Hung Phu ward, Truong Long commune, Phung Hiep commune, and Hoa Tu commune, with many activities including building rural transportation infrastructure, caring for the poor, and families entitled to preferential policies…
According to the plan, many roads will be upgraded and expanded, and many new bridges will be built during this period, creating favorable conditions for rural people to travel conveniently, contributing to production development and stabilizing their lives, with a budget of over 100 billion VND from the state budget and social contributions.
In addition, the Tet Military-Civilian Organizing Committee also built and renovated 31 houses, including 13 new solidarity houses (3 in Cai Rang ward, 10 in Truong Long commune); 6 new houses for comrades (2 in Truong Long commune, 2 in Phung Hiep commune, 2 in Hoa Tu commune); and donated 2,100 gifts to the poor and policy beneficiary families, each worth 500,000 VND (350 in Cai Rang ward, 300 in Hung Phu ward, 450 in Truong Long commune, 500 in Phung Hiep commune, 500 in Hoa Tu commune).
In addition, the organizing committee also donated 80 bicycles to underprivileged students, each worth 1,400,000 VND; awarded 60 scholarships to academically excellent students from disadvantaged backgrounds, each worth 1,000,000 VND; and organized medical examinations and provided gifts to 2,100 people in 5 communes and wards.

This year's Tet celebration for the Army and the People also includes activities such as: a competition for making local specialty folk cakes and some characteristic cakes of the South; artistic flower arranging; artistic fruit decorating; decorating tents and altars dedicated to the Fatherland; and exhibitions and displays of OCOP products and achievements of farmers in labor and production.
On December 4th, the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration for the military and civilians, with the Can Tho City Military Command as the core force, held a send-off ceremony at the Ong Hao Victory Monument in Truong Long commune, with many activities to support the local people. At the ceremony, in addition to road construction and environmental sanitation, the Organizing Committee commenced the construction of a house for Comrade Nguyen Van Xem, the squad leader of the Mobile Militia Squad under the Truong Long Commune Military Command.
Colonel Nguyen Van Cam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Can Tho City Military Command, stated: Through this year's activities, the city's armed forces continue to uphold the fine qualities of the Vietnam People's Army, "originating from the people and fighting for the people," creating a close bond between the Party committee, government, armed forces, and local people. Officers and soldiers need to uphold a high sense of responsibility, effectively implementing the motto "The people remember us when we leave, cherish us when we stay, and trust us in the locality," contributing to spreading the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people; and carrying out tasks with a cheerful, safe, effective, and economical spirit.
According to the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Military-Civilian Tet Festival, Can Tho city is organizing this year's Military-Civilian Tet Festival on a larger scale with many practical and truly meaningful activities to support the people.
The city mobilized over 1,000 people from various departments, businesses, and localities to organize a thoughtful, joyful, healthy, and safe Tet celebration, creating an atmosphere of excitement for the New Year. In particular, the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tet celebration for the military and civilians were held on a stage on the river, in the Cai Rang floating market area, to introduce and promote the unique culture of the floating market, and to present gifts to local traders so that everyone could celebrate the New Year in joy and warmth.
