In mid-October, we had the opportunity to visit Can Ty 2 village - mainly inhabited by Mong people, located at the "gateway" of the commune, where people's lives were difficult and their education level was low. Through our research, we found that the village has changed a lot, backward customs have been eliminated, traditional identity has been restored, and the village has gradually become a community tourism destination.

Mr. Lieu A Thanh - Party Cell Secretary, Village Chief said: Thanks to the propaganda and mobilization of the Party Committee and the government, the villagers have changed their awareness and no longer expect or rely on support sources. People help each other in life, build cultural families, maintain traditional identity, and actively eliminate bad customs.
It is known that, immediately after its establishment, the commune reviewed and identified 17 existing backward customs and practices that hindered local socio- economic development. The Party Committee and the commune government focused on leading and directing the elimination, including promoting propaganda and mobilizing to gradually change people's awareness. At the same time, promoting the role and responsibility of cadres, party members, village chiefs, party cell secretaries, and clan heads in the implementation process. In addition, investing in upgrading infrastructure such as cultural houses and sports grounds contributed to improving people's spiritual life. Deploying pilot models on eliminating backward customs and practices, praising good and humane practices to spread in the community.

Thanks to the participation of the entire political system, up to now, 6/17 bad customs have been eliminated, 4/17 bad customs have been eliminated from 50 to 85% such as: incestuous marriage, letting livestock roam free, high dowry, organizing long-term funerals and weddings... The eliminated bad customs have helped people reduce time and costs; the environment has been improved... Now in every village, every house has a barn to keep livestock, a hygienic toilet; waste is dumped in the right place, at the right time. Once a week, people join hands to clean up around the village, treat waste, plant trees and flowers along the roads. In particular, people contribute to buying solar-powered light bulbs for lighting, making it convenient for traveling.
Holidays and Tet are organized scientifically and economically by the people, but still maintain their identity. Cultural and sports movements take place enthusiastically. When people are sick, they no longer worship or use drugs of unknown origin but go to medical facilities for examination and treatment. The lives of people in 27/27 villages of the commune have gradually improved.

The commune also built 3 pilot models on eliminating backward customs and practices in 3 villages: Trung Xung A, Dinh Danh, Ta Ghenh and brought positive results, which is the basis for the villages to learn from experience and apply in practice.
Comrade Hoang Van Que - Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee said: In the coming time, the commune will continue to review, evaluate, and eliminate backward customs and practices. Strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to implement; replicate models, praise good practices, and at the same time inspect, monitor, and overcome limitations and shortcomings.
