Hoang Lien Construction Consulting Co., Ltd. (Tan Uyen Commune) is currently constructing an additional embankment project of more than 400m in length, including the following items: embankment foot, embankment body and road structure on top of the embankment... with a total investment of over 13.7 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed in December 2025, but the cost of materials and transportation is "increasing" significantly compared to the original plan.

Not only this project, many other projects in the area are also facing the same situation. The prices of sand, stone, cement, and steel are constantly increasing, forcing contractors to recalculate and rebalance the construction plan to ensure both progress and quality of the project.

According to the reporter's investigation, the construction materials market is still maintained and basically meets the needs of businesses and people. However, in some areas, the supply of sand and stone is becoming scarce due to many reasons. Many sand and stone mines have had to temporarily stop operations because their licenses have expired, while some other mines, although qualified for exploitation, have not yet completed legal procedures.

The lack of supply has led to hoarding and price increases in many places. In addition, input costs such as gasoline and transportation have increased, causing prices of construction materials to escalate.

Due to the increase in construction material prices, many households in remote areas have to bear large transportation costs, causing construction costs to increase significantly. Faced with this reality, many families have adjusted the progress or reduced the scale of the project to suit their financial capacity.

Mr. Sung A Dung's family (Lao Ty Phung residential group, Tan Phong ward) had to pay more to build a house due to increased material prices.

According to the Provincial Statistics Office, the construction industry's production value in the first 9 months of 2025 increased by 6.44% over the same period last year, which shows that construction activities still maintain growth, but are under significant pressure from raw material costs.

Faced with fluctuations in material prices, the Department of Construction has implemented many measures to ensure supply, stabilize prices and construction progress of key projects.

According to Mr. Trinh Quang Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, the whole province currently has 24 construction material mines in operation, of which stone is 505,000m3/year, sand is 44,780m3/year. Some mines are nearing the end of their exploitation period or are in the process of being extended, if not handled promptly, it will affect the supply of materials in the coming period.

Sand is one of the construction materials with high price increase today.

Currently, the Department of Construction continues to coordinate with sectors and localities to review the material needs of each region, develop a reasonable exploitation plan; at the same time, urge businesses to promptly complete legal procedures to avoid supply disruptions. Along with that, encourage businesses to apply new technology, take advantage of local materials, recycled materials to save costs, reduce emissions and protect the environment.

In the context of public investment and national target programs being promoted, the management, planning and effective exploitation of construction material resources are increasingly important. These synchronous solutions not only help stabilize the market and control prices, but also contribute to the development of infrastructure, housing and gradually orient construction activities towards green, sustainable and effective.
