Bustling market of textbooks and school supplies for the new school year

Reporters' observations at a number of stores and bookstores in the province, especially in Hac Thanh ward, show that the purchase of textbooks and school supplies is bustling.

At Le Loi Bookstore (belonging to Thanh Hoa School Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company), customers' purchasing power began to increase from the beginning of August 2025. To meet the shopping needs of students and their parents, this bookstore provides a full range of textbooks and supplementary books from grades 1 to 12. Other items such as school supplies, school bags, study lamps, etc. are also imported and sold by the bookstore in large quantities, with a variety of types and designs. According to the sales staff, the prices of books, notebooks, and school supplies of all kinds this year have not fluctuated much compared to the previous school year. Each type of book, school supplies, and equipment is listed by the bookstore, according to each area, in an easy-to-observe location to facilitate students and parents in searching and choosing.

At Tien Tho Bookstore, textbooks, reference books, and learning tools are also displayed and sold in abundance, and there is a team of consultants to support buyers. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Linh, Director of Tien Tho Bookstore, said: “To serve the people, parents, and students in the 2025-2026 school year, the bookstore has proactively imported textbooks of all levels and school supplies earlier and increased by more than 30% compared to last year. Compared to previous years, the prices of books this year have not fluctuated much. A set of textbooks ranges from 200,000 to more than 400,000 VND. In order to encourage parents and students to shop, since the beginning of July 2025, the bookstore has launched attractive promotional programs such as when buying textbooks and reference books priced from 300,000 VND, you will receive a voucher worth 20,000 VND; when buying textbooks and reference books priced from 500,000 VND, you will receive a voucher worth 30,000 VND”.

According to the survey, the highlight of the school supplies market in recent years is that Vietnamese goods dominate with reasonable prices, guaranteed quality, and are trusted by parents. In particular, notebooks and test papers of brands such as Hong Ha, Hai Tien, etc. are chosen by many consumers. Ms. Do Thi Phuong in Quang Phu ward shared: “Since mid-July, I have taken my children to buy textbooks and school supplies to prepare for the new school year 2025-2026. In general, the prices of books and school supplies here are quite reasonable and diverse in types. However, to ensure the safety of my children, I prioritize choosing school supplies with clear origins and prioritize using Vietnamese goods.”

According to the Director of Thanh Hoa School Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company Nguyen Thi Lien, in order to proactively supply textbooks, supplementary books and learning materials for the new school year 2025-2026, based on the number of students in the whole province, the company has developed a plan and proactively imported 3 million copies of books of all kinds, including textbooks and supplementary books. The imported books belong to many different publishers, but mainly the Vietnam Education Publishing House. Compared to previous years, this year's purchasing power is slower, however, by the end of July 2025, the company has supplied stores and agents in the province with about 2 million copies of books of all kinds. From the beginning of August, purchasing power has gradually increased, the company will also supply fully and promptly to avoid a shortage of books for the new school year.

As an indispensable luggage for every student, but with the diversity of designs and types of textbooks and school supplies market, experts recommend that, in order to avoid pirated textbooks and poor quality school supplies from "invading" schools, parents and students should buy books and school supplies at reputable addresses.
