Upper class
Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is the world's most luxurious watch brand, known as the "Rolls-Royce of watches". Each Patek Philippe is a symbol of status, sophistication and personal style, often only appearing on the hands of billionaires, heads of state or top collectors.
The Grand Complications line is the brand's pinnacle segment, bringing together the most complex creations in mechanical engineering, from astronomical displays, perpetual calendars to hour-repeating mechanisms.
The cheapest model of this brand is known to cost around 10,000 USD (more than 263 million VND). The most expensive ones can cost up to several hundred billion VND, depending on the factors of special production, or rare items no longer produced, auctioned to collectors.
Patek Philippe does not have an official store in Vietnam. Every genuine watch has to go through authorized dealers in Singapore, Hong Kong or Thailand.
Therefore, customers in Vietnam who want to own must have purchase records, certificates of origin (CO/CQ), international invoices and be willing to pay import tax, special consumption tax and VAT - factors that can increase the value of the product by up to 50% compared to the international listed price. Any case of failure to prove the origin is considered a violation of import regulations.
As for watches brought back in “hand-carried” form, Vietnam customs regulations allow tax exemption for goods worth less than 10 million VND. For Patek Philippe Grand Complications with prices ranging from several billion to tens of billions, customs declaration and tax payment are mandatory.
Watch collectors in Vietnam often say: “If you want a Patek, you need money and patience” . Because limited editions are only sold to customers with a purchase history and must be on a waiting list of up to 3 years.
Therefore, a Patek Philippe appearing on the wrist of a Vietnamese person not only tells a story of luxury but is also a ticket to the world of timeless values.
