In early November, Nha Nam launched the book Teacher-Student Stories by author Chu Hong Van and author Hoang Huong - two journalists who have pursuededucation for many years.

Teacher-student stories , as the title of the book, includes true and touching stories about teachers: special pedagogical situations, the teachers' dedicated sharing, portraits of teachers who take their own courageous paths in the education sector.

Or grown-up students recounting memories they had with their teachers, memories that changed their lives forever, for the better.

"The journey of a teacher's career is like small, silent streams, winding through rough rocks, but cool and sweet. Countless small streams flow together into the great ocean of one profession: the teaching profession," excerpt from the book.

It is the story of students who are now grown up, but never forget the memories of the teachers who changed their lives.

For Hung, "Ms. Hong Lien was the first teacher who helped him see the beauty of literature and grasp his own values that he did not know before."

For Vinh, "Memories of my teacher are bright moments that dispel the darkness of a period of my life."

With Hoai Thuong, a shy student, every time she was called to the board she would tremble like a leaf, but the teacher discovered Thuong's potential and helped her shine.

"Thanks to Ms. Mai, I have become a completely different person: active, dynamic, confident, ready to accept new challenges instead of cowering and fearfully in my shell like before.

Thanks to Ms. Mai, I became a student leader throughout my four years of university. Thanks to Ms. Mai, I confidently took the exam and won a scholarship to study abroad for graduate studies. I have been living a life worth living with an aggressive spirit, daring to think and dare to do."

Or for Hieu, a poor elementary school student who lives with his grandmother, doesn't know who his father is, and only sees his mother through the pictures his grandmother still keeps, the teacher is an angel.

She picked him up every day by bicycle, not only teaching him in class, but also teaching him many things about life while riding on the back of her bike. She followed him through his education and upbringing. When Hieu graduated from secondary school, she directed him to a vocational school.

"During the graduation ceremony at the vocational school,… Hieu hurriedly ran down to her. Tears welled up in his eyes: "Teacher, can I call you mom?". Hieu asked, but in fact he didn't need her to answer. In his heart, she was truly his mother. What Ms. Hoa did for Hieu from the first day he got on the bike for her to take him home, could only be a mother."

The book also records the stories that teachers tell about special situations they encountered in their teaching profession. In those situations, conscience, compassion and sensitivity helped them to have appropriate and meaningful behaviors towards their students.

A teacher came to teach at a new school, only seeing it as a transit point to continue on, but her engaging lectures made her students love and look forward to her, making her decide not to leave.

The story of Mr. Chinh discovering that every fifth period a student would become irritable, lose control, throw books at his friends and swear.

The teacher could not ignore it and tried to find out, only to discover that because his parents were divorced and he lived with his father, but his father forbade them to see each other, so his mother often came to school after school to see him. He could not calm down during the last classes... At that time, the teacher tried many ways to support the boy to overcome the difficult period.

In Teacher and Student Stories , readers will also encounter many portraits of special teachers.

The teacher who creates lessons despite being labeled as "showing off", the teacher who opens a school for problem students who "have nowhere else to go", the teachers who "beg for food" for students in a remote mountain school.

Journalist and screenwriter Chu Hong Van (Vinh Ha) graduated from the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi Pedagogical University, and has been an education reporter since 2008.

Published books: Getting Through Teen Life (co-author, 2018), Portraits of Divorce (2023).

Journalist Hoang Huong graduated from the Faculty of Journalism, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and has been an education reporter since 2001.

The two authors have had a journey of more than two decades to observe and admire the beauty of the teaching profession.

"Education is a hard path. Really hard. But also happy. Somewhere, people talk a lot about the negative things in the teaching profession, the ugly things in school to be pessimistic, to criticize.
