The passing of Meritorious Artist Kieu Hung leaves deep sorrow for the public, especially the generation of audiences who grew up with the country's immortal songs.

Under Kieu Hai's post, many viewers expressed their emotions: " Farewell to you - a voice more precious than gold, to the eternal land", "The immortal voice has left an imprint in our hearts forever with time", "May you rest in peace in the eternal land"...

Meritorious Artist Kieu Hung's full name is Kieu Tat Hung, born in 1937 in Ha Dong (now Hanoi ). He is one of the most outstanding baritone singers, leaving his mark in the period from the 1960s to the 1980s of Vietnamese music.

Since his student days, he was famous for his singing ability and participated in the amateur art troupe of the Hanoi Youth Union.

In 1957, when he was just 20 years old, he was officially selected to join the Central Performing Arts Troupe (the predecessor of the current Vietnam National Music, Dance and Dance Theater), beginning his professional artistic journey.

During his 6 years working at the Central Art Troupe, artist Kieu Hung performed on all battlefields and fronts, from remote islands to low- and high-altitude artillery positions during the days when the US began bombing the North.

His voice is also a great source of spiritual encouragement for soldiers and people.

In 1995, artist Kieu Hung's family moved to Germany to settle down. He regularly participates in community music programs to serve overseas Vietnamese.

In 1966, he was sent to the former Soviet Union to study music, in the same class as big names such as singer Trung Kien, musician Nguyen Duc Toan, and Tran Thu Ha.

After returning home, his career flourished and quickly left a deep impression on the public.

Meritorious Artist Kieu Hung is known as one of the most successful performers of revolutionary and lyrical songs. He is associated with a series of classic works, typically: Ho Chi Minh, the most beautiful name is Him, The song of the city named after Him, My homeland Vietnam, New day sounds, Myrtle trees, Harvest days, Love songs...

Evaluating Meritorious Artist Kieu Hung's voice, music critic Nguyen Quang Long called him a "legendary revolutionary voice", one of the few artists who have had a strong influence for many decades.

Critic Nguyen Quang Long said that the late artist's "steel" revolutionary quality was cleverly hidden in his sweet, smooth voice, creating a rare flexibility and sophistication, avoiding noise while still fully conveying the Vietnamese spirit.

“That is the voice that makes any song he sings famous. Kieu Hung has a strong yet gentle tenor voice, imbued with Vietnamese spirit, skillfully combining European technique with national color,” he said.

In his final years, Meritorious Artist Kieu Hung faced many health difficulties. In 2008, he unfortunately suffered a stroke. His wife, Viet Bac, patiently accompanied, cared for, and supported her husband throughout his rehabilitation process.

Despite declining health, love of art and admiration from the audience are always a great source of motivation for artists.

In 2012, he was moved to appear in the program Forever Shining Stars organized by the Vietnam National Music, Dance and Dance Theater, receiving endless applause from fans.

The last time he returned to his homeland was in 2014, participating in singer Trong Tan's music show.

The passing of Meritorious Artist Kieu Hung is a great loss to the Vietnamese music industry. He is remembered as a symbol of revolutionary music, who used his voice to engrave history and national spirit into the hearts of many generations of Vietnamese people.
