Heavy rain and rising river water have completely isolated many households in groups 1, 3, 6, 8, and 9 of Ha Dong residential group (Dien Ban Bac ward) in recent days.
Many level 4 houses were more than half submerged, crops, fruit trees and thousands of chrysanthemum pots prepared for Tet were submerged in water. With no electricity, no clean water, and roads cut off, people's lives were in dire straits.
Many families have sick members and children with fevers but cannot go out to buy medicine. Only the small boats of the villagers can move, carrying a few necessities in the vast water.
Understanding that situation, on the morning of October 30, the Women's Union of Ha Dong Residential Group coordinated with the Residential Group's Civil Affairs Committee to call on members, residents and donors to join hands to contribute funds and ingredients to make free meals to send to people in flooded areas. Just a few hours after the call, many people brought fish sauce, vermicelli, pork, water, etc. to contribute their efforts.
From early morning, the hall of the Ha Dong residential group's cultural house was bustling with laughter. In addition to the women's association members, there were also students and militia members who came to help. In the drizzling rain, hands quickly cut meat, washed vegetables, and divided boxes. Just a few hours later, more than 350 servings of hot pork noodles and drinks were completed.
When noon came, the rain had not stopped yet, but the meals had been divided into high places and gathered for people to use small boats to transport to flooded areas.
Along with food, the women also prepared fever-reducing medicine for families with sick children. Each gift package not only contained food but also contained love, sharing and hope to help people ease their difficulties during the days of severe floods.

The family of Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, group 9, has six people who are isolated. The water is more than 2 meters deep, many belongings are damaged, daily life is disrupted.
She said: “The house has been flooded for the past two days so we haven’t been able to go out to buy food or medicine. My child has a high fever and I’m so worried but don’t know what to do. When I received the food and fever-reducing medicine sent by the women, I was really touched. In difficult times, receiving such care is so precious. I am very grateful to the people and the women.”
Ms. Vu Thi Dinh, Head of the Women's Association of Ha Dong residential group, said: "When we saw many areas flooded, we immediately thought of making free noodles for people. Each person contributed a little, some gave meat, noodles, water, some contributed packaging. On the morning of October 30 alone, we cooked more than 350 portions and sent them all to isolated households."
Amidst the floodwaters, the image of women wearing raincoats, wrapping lunch boxes, passing them from hand to hand onto boats to give to people… has become a beautiful symbol of kindness.
It is these simple yet warm actions that spread humanity during the storm and flood, so that anyone going through this rainy season will remember that, in hardship, there are always hearts that turn to each other with love.
