In Cam Xuyen district, immediately after the rain stopped, people gathered in the fields to harvest spring rice, prioritizing the fields that had fallen and were flooded due to the recent heavy rains. Taking advantage of the weather, the people of Cam Thanh commune urgently harvested and transported rice home, hoping to minimize the damage caused by heavy rain. The fields that were collapsed and flooded were given top priority, because if left for too long, the rice would sprout and be lost. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (Xuan Lau village, Cam Thach commune) shared: "My family has more than 1 hectare of land, only half of which has been harvested, the rest is still in the field. Seeing the sunny weather, my family is urgently calling the harvester to avoid the next rains that could come at any time. If we are not quick, all the efforts of the whole crop will be in vain." Each bag of rice was unloaded onto the shore, helping the people of Cam Thach commune feel more secure. People in Dong Nam Lo village (Cam Thanh commune, Cam Xuyen) urgently supported poor families to harvest flooded rice fields because combine harvesters could not enter the fields. It is known that this year's spring crop, Cam Xuyen district produced on an area of over 9,000 hectares, and has now harvested more than half. In the fields, people are racing against the weather to "close" the harvest of spring rice areas.
In Ha Tinh city, the spring rice harvest is taking place more bustlingly than ever. Across the fields, the bustling sound of harvesters is mixed with the hurried footsteps of farmers transporting rice home.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (Thanh Tien TDP, Dong Mon Ward, Ha Tinh City) said: "My family planted 7 sao of rice this season, and most of it fell during the recent rain. This morning, I had to call my children and grandchildren to help, taking advantage of every hour and minute to harvest. The rice was flooded, the stalks were weak, so the harvester was difficult to move, and many places had to be cut by hand, which was very hard."
With the forecast of heavy rains coming again, the professional sector of Ha Tinh City has urged people to concentrate all their forces and means to go to the fields to harvest spring rice.
In Huong Son district, the harvest season is also in full swing. Across the spring rice fields, farmers are racing against time to bring their crops home before the heavy rains are forecast to return.
Thach Ngoc Commune (Thach Ha) is a locality that was heavily affected by the recent floods, with more than 100 hectares of rice deeply submerged and collapsed. The rice is in harvest time but machines cannot be used to harvest, many families are worried because of the risk of losing the entire crop.
In order to support the people, the police force of Thach Ngoc commune did not hesitate to face difficulties, working side by side with the people in the fields, sickles in hand and bundles in hand, harvesting each clump of rice in the water to help people "save the crop".
The family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Cuc (Moc Hai village) was one of the households heavily affected by the heavy rain. More than 3 sao of rice had just ripened and had not yet been harvested when the fields were flooded. Strong winds and heavy rains caused the rice to fall, and the fields were flooded up to the calves. With no machinery to access the fields and her children working far away, Mrs. Cuc could only stand and look at the rice fields with worried eyes.
After receiving the information, the police force of Thach Ngoc commune quickly went to the field to help Mrs. Cuc's family harvest rice. Despite the deep water, the police officers still worked hard to harvest and carry the rice to the bank, helping the family harvest more than 3 sao of rice.
Ms. Cuc shared: "I am very grateful for the support of the local police force. Luckily, thanks to you, my family was able to complete the rice harvest in just one morning."
Major Thai Van Minh - Deputy Chief of Thach Ngoc Commune Police said: "Immediately after the heavy rain, we quickly grasped the damage situation in the villages and organized forces to support people to harvest rice in a timely manner. In the immediate future, we prioritize helping households in special circumstances such as the elderly living alone, and policy families without a main labor force. Going to the fields to help people not only minimize crop damage but also demonstrates the responsibility and solidarity between the police force and the people."

In the spring crop of 2025, the whole province planted 59,273 hectares. To date, localities have harvested over 55% of the area.
With heavy rains forecast to return, experts recommend that people must concentrate all their resources and equipment to urgently harvest the remaining rice fields. In particular, the top priority is the areas that have fallen or are flooded because these are the areas most vulnerable to damage if heavy rains continue.
In addition, farmers need to proactively develop plans to preserve rice after harvest, such as finding a dry place to dry and dry it if conditions permit. At the same time, closely monitor weather forecasts to be able to respond promptly, avoiding any unfortunate damage that may occur.
