Ms. Ha Thi Mai, Secretary of the Kim Dong village Party cell, Thanh Ky commune (Nhu Thanh), is a typical example of the spirit of responsibility in taking care of people's affairs.
After more than 11 years as Party Secretary and Chairman of Thanh Ky Commune People's Council, in 2015, Ms. Mai retired.
But with all her spirit and responsibility for her homeland, she continued to participate in social work as the President of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans. After retiring from the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans, in 2021, she was elected to the position of President of the Association for the Elderly. With her exemplary leadership in all work, her understanding of politics , economics, culture - society, and her professional capacity and extensive practical experience, Ms. Mai was elected by the party members in the Kim Dong village party cell to hold the position of party cell secretary.
Always remembering President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Do everything that is beneficial to the people, avoid everything that is harmful to the people", as soon as she received the assignment, Ms. Mai proactively built her own work plan. At the same time, together with the Party cell, she proposed policies and resolutions on socio -economic development, improving people's lives, ensuring security and order, building a strong Party and political system in the village. In early 2023, the Party Committee of the commune assigned the Party cell the task of striving to bring Kim Dong village to the finish line of a new-style rural village. To concretize the direction of the superiors, she and the Party cell met and agreed to issue a thematic resolution on "Building a new-style rural village". In order for the resolution to come into life, the Party cell organized conferences to deploy the new-style rural development policy to cadres, Party members and the people. At the same time, promote the role of the village front committee and member organizations in promoting propaganda so that people clearly understand the meaning and purpose of building new rural areas. Ms. Mai said: “Kim Dong village has 130 households, with 530 people, of which Thai ethnic people account for more than 90%. To gain people's trust and follow, I determined that I must be truly exemplary, have a high sense of responsibility for my work, and say what I do. Along with pioneering in contributing funds to build roads and repair cultural houses, I, along with cadres and party members in the Party cell, regularly meet to analyze and propagate so that people are aware of their role as the main subject in building new rural areas”.
In particular, in the process of implementing the criteria for new rural villages, Ms. Mai and the Party cell and the village development board always implemented the grassroots democracy regulations well according to the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit". Accordingly, all work related to new rural construction is presented by the Party cell and the village development board for people to discuss and vote on the implementation plan and contribution level. Through that, all classes of people in Kim Dong village agreed to contribute labor and money to build their homeland. It is known that the total capital mobilized by Kim Dong village for new rural construction is 22.248 billion VND. Of which, people invested in building new houses, repairing houses, gates, fences, and sanitary works is 18.480 billion VND. At the same time, they contributed more than 1.341 billion VND, donating about 5,500m2 of land to expand roads and build welfare works to serve people's lives. With the people's strength combined with the State's support capital, the village has invested in repairing the cultural house - village sports area; concretizing the internal village roads; installing 1.6km of lighting on the traffic routes according to the bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe model. Thanks to the Party's will - the people's heart, in 2024, Kim Dong village reached the NTM finish line in the joy of the cadres and people here.
Along with investing in building synchronous rural infrastructure, Ms. Mai and the village leaders also regularly mobilize people to promote the renovation of mixed gardens, combined with land accumulation and concentration to bring high-value crops into production. Up to now, villagers have renovated more than 5 hectares of mixed gardens to grow fruit trees and hybrid corn. At the same time, they have maintained the planting and exploitation cycle of more than 50 hectares of acacia on the production forest land area. In addition, she has also proactively proposed to the Party Committee and the commune government to open vocational training classes and introduce jobs to people in the village. Currently, the whole Kim Dong village has 43 people working abroad in Korea, Taiwan (China)... and annually sends back to their families over 10 billion VND. Thanks to that, by the end of 2024, the average income per capita of the village will be raised to 52 million VND.
With her practical contributions to her hometown, Ms. Mai has been recognized and praised by the Party Committee, the government and the people of Thanh Ky commune. More honorably, she is one of the typical Party cell secretaries, village and neighborhood chiefs to be commended and rewarded by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhu Thanh district in 2024.
