In recent years, Ale B village (Ea Kao ward) has been a place where the traditional culture of the Ede people exists. Following the previous generation, the young people of the village have made efforts to connect and maintain traditional cultural activities through the Ede ethnic folk culture club of Ale B village. The club was established in April 2024 with 37 members, chaired by Mr. Y Jon Buôn Krông, Village Chief, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ale B village. The club regularly meets at the Ale B community cultural house with many activities such as xoang dance, gongs, brocade weaving, cuisine , etc.

According to Mr. Y Jon Buôn Krông, the club is making efforts to maintain a team of many ages to keep the profession, to keep the source of culture preserved and spread.
"The cultural sector is coordinating with other sectors and localities to carry out cultural preservation activities in various forms such as: organizing for people and students to visit and learn about traditional culture in villages inside and outside the province; coordinating with the education sector to bring artisans to teach gongs in schools; establishing cultural clubs in localities; combining cultural preservation and tourism development..." - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thuy Phuong Hieu. |
Mr. Y Jon shared: “When I was young, I often sat by the fire watching my grandmother - H Brao Buon Krong weaving brocade, following artisan Y Hiu Nie Kdam around the villages performing gongs. When I was in 6th grade, I was directly taught gongs by the village artisan Y Soai Ayun in the traditional long house. Those beautiful memories helped me understand the traditional culture of my people, urging me to find ways to preserve it in the midst of modern life.”
In Tan Tien commune, traditional culture has been preserved for many generations through community activities in villages and schools. Mr. Tran Hung Dung, Principal of Ea Yieng Secondary School (Tan Tien commune) shared that more than 95% of the school's students are Xe Dang ethnic minorities. Therefore, traditional culture education is one of the important contents. The school also invited artisans from Kon Wang village to the school to introduce and teach students about traditional musical instruments such as T'rung, gong, ding pah, Ting Ning...
In recent years, people's living standards have been increasingly improved, modern cultural products attract more young people. To preserve and develop traditional culture, more space and diversified activities are needed.
According to artisan Abliet (Xe Dang ethnic group), Kon Wang hamlet (Tan Tien commune), he is often invited by Ea Yieng Secondary School to exchange and share about traditional musical instruments. The difficulty here is not teaching and learning, but creating a living space for traditional cultural activities. Traditional cultural activities in the community are also less than before, so preservation needs to be carried out specifically and regularly with real people, real work, and real space so that traditional culture can "live" and spread in the community.

Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Ea Kao Ward Nguyen Huu Tho said that the locality will strengthen the work of introducing and promoting traditional culture through related activities in the ward; at the same time, encourage educational institutions to diversify experiential activities and local educational content with the participation of artisans and cultural clubs so that traditional culture has more "living space", helping students understand more and become subjects participating in preserving traditional culture in the locality.
