According to CNN, just minutes after US President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 race, former President Donald Trump spoke to CNN over the phone, asserting that Biden will be remembered as "the worst president in the history of our country" .

Referring to Mr. Biden's support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate in the race for the White House, Donald Trump said he believes Vice President Kamala Harris will be an easier opponent to defeat than Biden.
The former President continued to harshly criticize the current President and Vice President on the social network Truth Social: "Crooked Joe Biden is not fit to run for president and certainly cannot serve the country." At the same time, he pledged to quickly repair the damage that the incumbent allegedly caused to the United States when he returns to office.
Mr Trump's comments came after President Joe Biden decided to withdraw from the race for the White House.
"Serving as President has been the greatest honor of my life. Although I would like to run again, I believe that stepping down will bring the best interests of my party and the country. I will focus only on completing the duties of President for the remainder of my term," US President Joe Biden posted a statement on his X account on July 21 (early morning of July 22, Vietnam time).

He also praised Vice President Kamala Harris - the Democratic presidential candidate for the upcoming election: "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those who have worked tirelessly to see me re-elected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been a great partner in this work. I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the American people for the faith and trust they have placed in me," Biden wrote. "Today I believe what I have always believed, that there is nothing America cannot do, as long as we stand together. We just have to remember that we are America."
This is the first time in decades that a sitting US president has decided not to run for re-election. The last time was President Lyndon Johnson, who withdrew from the campaign in 1968.
President Biden has faced a barrage of calls from within the Democratic Party over the past month to drop out of the race, following his first debate with former President Donald Trump. Thirty-five Democratic lawmakers have publicly called on him to drop out of the race to make way for a younger candidate.
