The organizing committee decided to award gold medals to both Hong An and Safira.

Indonesia left a bad impression at the Pencak Silat SEA Games 32 arena after a scuffle and argument broke out with the Vietnamese team's coaching staff and the referees in the final match of the women's 50-55kg Tanding B category yesterday, May 10. Afterwards, the Vietnamese team had to pay 200 USD to appeal to the referee to win back the gold medal for boxer Hoang Nguyen Hong An.

Previously, in the final match of the Pencak Silat women's 50-55kg category, Nguyen Hoang Hong An was led by Safira Dwi Meilani throughout the match. When there were only about 18 seconds left in the match, in a moment, the Vietnamese boxer suddenly threw a tricky arm-twisting move that forced his opponent to admit defeat and won by knockout.

After the referee announced that Hong An won the match , the Indonesian coaching staff was upset, reacted strongly and even demanded to "settle the score" with the Vietnamese coaching staff and audience present at the competition venue.

After reviewing the referee's report and the monitoring team, the organizing committee decided to award the gold medal to Hong An and Indonesian competitor Safira Meilani. With this result, the women's 50-55kg Pencak Silat Tanding B category will not have a silver medal because the two losers in the semi-finals will receive bronze medals.
