Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, President of Vietnam Women's Union, spoke at the launching ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, said that since its establishment, our Party has always consistently considered women's work and the goal of gender equality as one of the core tasks of the Vietnamese revolution. The viewpoint of "gender equality" is expressed throughout the Party's policies, resolutions and directives at each stage of the country's development. In recent years, the Government has proactively and resolutely directed ministries, branches and localities to synchronously implement strategies, programs and projects on gender equality to maintain the momentum of promoting gender equality.

Building on the success of the first National Press Award on Gender Equality in 2024, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union continues to preside over and coordinate with agencies and organizations to implement the second Award in 2026, affirming the important role of the press in spreading the message of gender equality and directly impacting the awareness and actions of the community.

The launching ceremony of the National Press Award on Gender Equality is an activity within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and UN Women, aiming to create a favorable environment for gender equality, empower women and end violence against women and girls.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, hopes that the entries to this year's contest will not only reflect issues, but also propose practical, sustainable solutions, creating positive changes in society.

“Let the entries not only be articles, reports, or media products, but also strong messages promoting gender equality for the goal of sustainable development, “leaving no one behind”. Each story, each image, each news can become a powerful tool in changing the thinking and actions of the community”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized.

Also at the ceremony, Ms. Caroline Nya-maye-mombe, Head of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Vietnam, said that this award is not only a contest, but also a recognition of the indispensable role of the press in "challenging" gender stereotypes and shaping a society where women and men have equal opportunities to develop.

“As Vietnam prepares for the 14th National Party Congress and the new National Assembly elections in 2026, promoting gender equality must be one of the top priorities, including enhancing the role of women in politics, green transformation, STEM, digital innovation and the care economy… I hope this award will inspire a new generation of journalists: brave, empathetic, solution-oriented and committed to giving women and girls a ‘worthy’ voice,” Ms. Caroline Nya-maye-mombe hoped.

The award is not only a forum for journalists to share propaganda experiences but also contributes to raising social awareness about the role of gender equality in the overall development of the country.

This year’s award launching ceremony takes place in a special context when Vietnam is actively implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 5 on gender equality. This is also a meaningful time when Vietnam has just published the National Report on 30 years of implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and at the same time, responded to the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence, which takes place every November.

The award will consider works in four categories, including print, electronic, radio and television. Entries must be published or broadcast on licensed media from December 1, 2024, to March 30, 2026. Works that have won awards in other press competitions will not be eligible for this award. Each author, group of authors or press agency can submit a maximum of 5 works.

The award structure includes individual and group awards. For individual awards, each type of journalism will have 1 A Prize, 1 B Prize, 2 C Prizes, 2 Encouragement Prizes and 3 Group Awards for agencies and units that propose and send the most quality entries.

Entries for the 2nd National Journalism Award on Gender Equality will be received via email giaibaochibdg2026@gmail.com, starting from November 27, 2025 to April 5, 2026. The award ceremony is expected to take place in June 2026.
