People in Lang Ca hamlet (Van Han commune, Dong Hy) harvest LDP1 hybrid tea in the main season. |
Van Han has over 2,800 households, of which 95% grow and process tea. The total tea area of the commune is 960 hectares, mainly hybrid tea varieties with high productivity and quality; the area of tea produced according to VietGAP and organic standards is nearly 200 hectares.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Phong, Secretary of the Van Han Commune Party Committee, said: The commune is one of the key tea production areas of Dong Hy district. Therefore, the development of tea trees and the construction of traditional tea villages are always of interest to local authorities and Party committees.
Every year, the Commune Party Committee builds a resolution to lead the development of tea plants with key contents such as: Promoting the application of science and technology in production; actively converting new tea varieties for high productivity and quality; organizing joint ventures, associations and establishing tea cooperatives and cooperative groups...
To effectively implement the resolution, the Commune People's Committee organized meetings to deploy to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, heads of mass organizations and village party cell secretaries. At the same time, it requested to step up propaganda and mobilize people, members and members to actively invest in renovating and caring for tea trees.
The Van Han commune focuses on transferring science and technology in tea production and processing in coordination with specialized units of the province and district to organize and implement. Thereby, guiding people to apply new knowledge and techniques in production, especially in growing and processing organic tea and VietGAP. With the goal of promoting commodity-oriented production, Van Han commune also actively propagates and raises awareness so that people can proactively participate in developing collective economy and establishing cooperatives, tea cooperative groups, etc.
Coming to some hamlets such as Lang Ca, Pha Ly, Van Hoa... we were able to admire the neat tea gardens with buds blooming profusely. Many people shared that in order for the tea trees to develop sustainably, people always pay attention to care and fertilize according to the correct process; use biological products instead of herbicides and chemical pesticides; old tea areas with low productivity are replaced with new tea varieties with high productivity and quality...
Mr. Duong Quoc Huong in Lang Ca hamlet said: My family has nearly 10 sao of LDP1 tea. Thanks to applying the care process according to VietGAP standards, the productivity, quality of tea and selling price are much higher. If previously, dry tea was only sold for 100,000-150,000 VND/kg, now it has increased to about 250,000 VND/kg.
Up to now, Van Han has built 17 traditional tea villages. On average, each village creates jobs for 150-170 workers; revenue reaches about 11 billion VND/year. The commune has 6 cooperatives, tea cooperative groups and 8 tea products meeting 3-4 star OCOP standards...
