Approving the Task of Adjusting the General Planning of Pleiku City to 2045

Pleiku city is a class I urban area of the province.

The decision clearly states that Pleiku city is a type I urban area of the province, a dynamic urban area of the Central Highlands region, with an important position in terms of national defense and security for the Central Highlands region and the whole country. It is the political , administrative, security-defense, economic, cultural, scientific-technical, educational, industrial, commercial and service center of the province. It is a core urban area in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle.

The goal is to build the brand of Pleiku City - a green Highland city for health; improve the material and spiritual life of the people; develop social infrastructure, urban technical infrastructure, develop sustainable socio -economic and environmental development. Exploit the strengths of natural conditions, environmental landscape of the Northern Central Highlands region to develop urban areas with environmental protection as the focus, build urban areas with their own identity associated with tourism - service development and with indigenous cultural values.

Exploit and promote effectively the potential and strengths of the Central Highlands; promote international integration, especially in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle, strengthen cooperation between localities in the region and the whole country to mobilize and make good use of all resources for rapid and sustainable development, gradually narrowing the socio-economic development gap compared to the whole country.

Orientation for the period after 2045: Pleiku City has a population of about 700,000 to 1 million people, has an important position in the national urban system and has influence in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle, Southeast Asia, plays a role as one of the main development centers of the Central Highlands region, has great investment attraction and develops international cooperation in a number of fields.

Key requirements for master plan adjustment

Key requirements for adjusting the master plan include: Reviewing and identifying priority issues to be resolved (regarding regional connectivity, population distribution, housing, quality of life, urban transport, flood management, resource use, etc.) of the 2018 Master Plan, to propose planning adjustments to ensure feasibility and effectiveness.

Adjust the spatial development orientation, land use, and technical infrastructure of Pleiku City in accordance with the vision and flexibly adapt to socio-economic fluctuations and climate change; exploit the potential and development momentum of urban and rural areas, promote sustainable urban and socio-economic development of Pleiku City in association with ecological environment protection.

Analysis of the role, position and inter-regional relationship: Assessment of the advantages and limitations of the geographical location of Pleiku City; analysis of the international and regional context, orientation, development strategy of the country, the Central Highlands region, and Gia Lai province that affect the development of Pleiku City. Assessment of the role, position, attractiveness and spread of Pleiku City in the Central Highlands economic region, the country and the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle.

Analyze and evaluate the current status of socio-economic-environmental-historical-cultural development through indicators, economic structure, population characteristics, labor, settlement, customs and practices of ethnic minorities in Pleiku City.

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee presides over and coordinates with the Ministry of Construction and relevant ministries and branches to organize the preparation of the Project to adjust the General Planning of Pleiku City to 2045 in accordance with legal regulations.
