Po To commune is located in the downstream area of Ba river, an area that is often flooded and isolated during the rainy and stormy season. According to forecasts, due to the impact of storm No. 13, An Khe-Ka Nat dam will discharge floodwaters, putting Po To commune at risk of widespread flooding; in which, 3 villages Bi Gia, Bi Giong and Plei Du with nearly 1,000 people are likely to be isolated.

Mr. Huynh Van Truong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Po To commune - said: To proactively respond, the Party Committee of the commune has issued a directive document, assigning specific responsibilities to each head of the sector; at the same time, established 4 working groups in charge of key points. The groups are assigned the task of mobilizing forces, vehicles, and necessities, ensuring readiness to respond when situations arise.
For areas at risk of being isolated, the commune has arranged warning signs and sentries at both ends of dangerous points to prevent people from passing through; both to prevent storms and to respond to floods. The local government has also urgently notified, mobilized and organized the evacuation of people in areas at risk of deep flooding to safe places; at the same time, proactively mobilized additional forces and means from outside to be ready to support and respond in emergency situations.
At the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich requested the political system of Po To commune to immediately activate the "4 on-site" motto, proactively and synchronously deploy measures to prevent and respond to storms and floods. In particular, focus on evacuating all residents of the three villages of Bi Gia, Bi Giong and Plei Du to safe places; stockpile food and necessities to ensure a minimum of 3 days to 1 week of living in case of isolation.
In addition, localities need to review and bring sick people and women about to give birth to medical stations; prepare adequate medicine and equipment, and ensure readiness to respond to emergency situations.
