Deputy Prime Minister attends groundbreaking ceremony of steel project complex in Nam Dinh

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee, said that this is a key project with the largest total investment in Nam Dinh province to date.

This project is expected to create a great boost for the province's socio -economic development. It will contribute to promoting the industrial, urban and service development of Nghia Hung district, and at the same time be a driving force for the development of Ninh Co Economic Zone.

The implementation and operation of the green steel project complex is expected to create jobs for 16,000 direct workers, mainly technical workers, and about 2,000 indirect unskilled workers from the expansion of local supporting service industries.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that this is an important project, which when implemented will actively contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the locality and region.

In order for the project to come into effective operation soon, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long noted that authorities at all levels continue to promote their role in creating and supporting, creating the most favorable conditions for project implementation, ensuring security and order, closely monitoring compliance with the law and environmental protection; continuing to pay attention to stabilizing and improving the lives of people in the project area...

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that with the solidarity, unity and attention of the Party Committee, government and people of Nam Dinh province and after July 1, the new Ninh Binh province; with the efforts and determination of the investor, the project complex will be completed on schedule, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency, becoming a driving force project of Ninh Co Economic Zone, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the locality as well as the country.

This steel mill project has a capacity of 9.5 million tons of steel/year, using electricity and natural gas, moving towards using green hydrogen to reduce steel, replacing traditional steelmaking technology using coke to reduce CO2 emissions and protect the environment.

The main products are high quality steel, which has not been produced domestically yet, such as: Weather-resistant steel for mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, wind power pole production, car bodywork, weapon manufacturing...

According to schedule, by June 2028, the unit will produce the first steel product and complete the project complex by June 2030.

Once operational, the project complex will contribute about 20,000 billion VND to the state budget each year, creating jobs for more than 21,000 workers.
