On the morning of October 26th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health organized the National Emulation Congress of the Health Sector, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, along with nearly 100 outstanding collectives and individuals from across the country.
Healthcare professionals need to improve their capabilities and uphold the spirit of "A good doctor is like a loving mother."
Speaking at the congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long praised and warmly congratulated the outstanding achievements of the Ministry and the health sector, continuing to strongly spread the spirit of patriotic emulation and making important contributions to national development.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the new development phase presents many favorable opportunities but also poses many challenges for various sectors and fields.
For the healthcare sector, these challenges include globalization and international integration creating new demands for disease control; significant changes in disease patterns; complex environmental pollution and social ills; population growth and increasingly diverse healthcare needs; and the trend of population aging…
This context requires the Ministry of Health and the health sector to build upon its traditions and achievements. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the health sector needs to further strengthen the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility in its work.
At the same time, emphasis should be placed on improving medical ethics. Every official, civil servant, public employee, doctor, and medical staff member should always uphold and promote the quality of "a good doctor is like a loving mother."
Promote digital transformation in healthcare management; implement electronic medical records, and synchronize health data between hospitals and healthcare facilities. Strengthen the application of artificial intelligence and big data, and invest in developing software to support doctors in the examination, treatment, and care of patients.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that protecting, caring for, and improving the health of the people is a goal, a driving force, and a top political priority, holding a high position in development strategies and policies; it is the responsibility of the entire political system, the whole society, and every citizen.
Patriotic emulation is closely linked to caring for the people's health.
According to Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, the patriotic emulation movement in the health sector over the past period has truly become a powerful driving force, motivating each individual and unit to continuously strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges through dedicated, persistent, and creative work.

Over the past period, the entire medical sector has demonstrated the spirit of "white-coated soldiers on the front lines," united in purpose, dedicated, and ready to sacrifice for the health and lives of the people.
In particular, it has fostered national pride, patriotism, unity, and solidarity. Many examples of selfless dedication from doctors and numerous scientific innovations have made significant contributions to helping the country overcome challenging times.
To enhance patient satisfaction, the Ministry of Health has launched the emulation movement "Innovating style and attitude, improving medical ethics and professionalism towards patient and family satisfaction" to improve the overall quality of healthcare, including professional service attitudes and solid technical expertise, to better meet the needs of the people.
"Through the emulation movement, many hospitals have shown significant improvements; patient satisfaction indices have increased steadily; and the image of doctors in the eyes of the community has been enhanced," Minister Dao Hong Lan said.
She also highlighted the exemplary contributions made on many silent fronts, from disease prevention movements to medical facilities in remote, disadvantaged areas, border regions, and islands, and countless other examples that have left a profound impression on the people.
"Most recently, we have seen the image of nurse Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang from the Neonatal Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, who bravely protected patients and their families in a critical situation, leaving unforgettable marks on the performance of her duties and the sacrifices made by medical professionals," Ms. Lan said.
Looking ahead to the 2025-2030 period, Minister Dao Hong Lan called on all officials, civil servants, and employees in the health sector to continue to be more united, responsible, and creative; focusing on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, promoting digital transformation, developing grassroots healthcare, strengthening the preventive health network, and spreading professional ethics.
