On the afternoon of October 30, Comrade Mai Van Chinh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, and a Government delegation inspected the flood response situation in Quang Tri; visited and presented gifts to encourage people in the "flood center" area. According to a quick report from Quang Tri province, due to the influence of weakening cold air combined with disturbances of the upper easterly wind zone, in recent days, the province has had moderate rain, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in the southern communes of the province, causing many losses in human lives and property of the State and people.

Currently, the north of the province is experiencing heavy to very heavy rain, water levels in rivers are rising, posing a risk of deep and widespread flooding in the old Quang Binh area.

Visiting and encouraging the people of Huu Tan village, Ninh Chau commune, Quang Tri province, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh was moved to know that this is the "flood center" of Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province (old). The historic flood in October 2020 caused a lot of damage to the people.

Since then, local people have proactively taken many measures to cope with natural disasters such as building houses with flood shelters; community houses to avoid floods; proactively preparing food and drinking water for many days to stabilize their lives when floodwaters are deep and recede slowly...

At this time, flood water is also rising rapidly, causing flooding in residential areas, but people are calm and proactively responding to the floods.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Phuong traveled by boat to visit people in the "flood center" area of ​​Huu Tan.

Appreciating the proactiveness of the Party Committee, government, functional forces and people in the low-lying area of ​​Huu Tan during the storm and flood, especially the implementation of the "4 on-the-spot" motto, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh requested Quang Tri province to focus highly on the work of preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of floods and storms, and must put the goal of ensuring the safety of people's lives first and foremost.

The Deputy Prime Minister encouraged people to unite more and support each other to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters, while reminding people to absolutely follow the instructions of local authorities and functional agencies to ensure safety in case the natural disaster conditions continue to be complicated.
