That is the information that Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Head of PC07 Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, informed reporters of news agencies and newspapers at a press conference providing information on the socio -economic situation in Ho Chi Minh City organized by the Propaganda and Education Department of the City Party Committee in coordination with the City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on the afternoon of November 13.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Head of PC07 Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, in 1 year, from October 10, 2024 to October 5, 2025, there were 41 fires related to battery-powered vehicles in the city.
Li-ion batteries have high energy density and are prone to heat generation and explosion if charged, stored or used incorrectly.
When a fire occurs, it is difficult to extinguish because the battery is often placed in a closed compartment, has a high heat content and can re-ignite even after being controlled.
To be proactive in the green roadmap, the Ministry of Public Security has directed the national fire prevention and fighting force to develop a plan, equip special fire fighting equipment and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to issue a set of national regulations and standards on fire prevention and fighting safety for electric vehicles and infrastructure.

Along with that, the PC07 force of Ho Chi Minh City Police has promoted propaganda and training on fire prevention and fighting skills for people and owners of electric vehicle service businesses, and at the same time researched specialized fire extinguishing agents suitable for the characteristics of Li-ion batteries.
PC07 of Ho Chi Minh City Police recommends that people perform regular maintenance, use genuine chargers, do not charge overnight or in closed spaces, place vehicles in cool places, avoid near flammable objects, and in case of an incident, combine cooling and moving surrounding objects to prevent fire from spreading.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tung emphasized that green transformation is an inevitable trend, but safety must come first. Proactive prevention and compliance with recommendations are the key to protecting yourself, the community and successfully achieving the city's green and sustainable development goals.
