Anti-corruption with the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions"

(Dan Tri) - During the past term, Can Tho Party Committees at all levels regularly inspected nearly 6,500 organizations and nearly 18,400 party members. When there were signs of violations, 177 organizations and 1,599 party members were inspected.

On November 13, Can Tho City Party Committee held a conference to review the work of preventing and combating corruption and waste during the 13th Party Congress term.

Here, Mr. Ha Bao Huy, Deputy Head of the City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, briefly reported on the work of preventing and combating corruption and negative waste during the 13th Party Congress term in Can Tho City.

According to the report, during the term, Can Tho City organized nearly 8,200 classes to disseminate regulations on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity with the participation of more than 345,000 cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and people.

In the work of inspection, supervision and discipline of the Party, Party committees at all levels have regularly inspected nearly 6,500 organizations and nearly 18,400 party members. When there were signs of violations, 177 organizations and nearly 1,600 party members were inspected.

Regarding disciplinary enforcement, since the beginning of the term, 51 party organizations and 1,663 party members have been disciplined for violations.

Regarding asset and income control, the declaration and public announcement of asset and income declarations for more than 47,400 people (100% rate) has been implemented. During the term, the City Party Committee's Inspection Committee verified the assets and income of 210 people. The Inspection Committee randomly selected 842 people for verification, and no violations were found.

City inspectors verified assets and incomes of 543 cases. Competent authorities considered handling 8 cases of violations.

Regarding the work of detecting and handling corruption, waste and negativity, during the term, through supervision, inspection and self-inspection, 3 cases with signs of law violations were discovered.

The inspection and settlement of complaints and denunciations focuses on areas prone to corruption such as public finance, land, bidding, health care, education ... The City Inspectorate has transferred 34 cases to the Police Investigation Agency for consideration and handling according to legal regulations.

The work of receiving, handling criminal information, initiating, investigating, prosecuting, trying and executing sentences, received a total of 149 reports, and processed 143 reports (of which 69 were prosecuted, 37 were not prosecuted, 35 were temporarily suspended, 2 were transferred to other agencies, and 6 were in the process of being processed).

The work of recovering lost and misappropriated assets in corruption and negative cases has always been focused on. Specifically, during the term, nearly 54 billion VND, 40,000 USD and two taels of gold were recovered and handled; a savings book worth 300 million VND, three land use right certificates, three cars were temporarily detained; a real estate transaction was stopped and an account (70 million VND) was frozen.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Le Quang Tung requested leaders at all levels, sectors and localities to focus on improving the quality of grassroots party organizations and party members, including leading and directing the implementation of tasks and solutions to prevent and combat corruption, waste and negativity, shifting more strongly to the focus of preventing corruption, waste and negativity early and from afar.

At the same time, strengthen inspection, supervision and audit work, contributing to improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization and maintaining internal solidarity and unity.

"Concretize and strictly implement viewpoints, policies and laws on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity with the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions"; link the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity with building a two-level local government apparatus that is truly honest, close to the people, and serves the people effectively," the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee emphasized.

At the conference, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen awarded certificates of merit to 15 collectives and 20 individuals with achievements in monitoring, reporting and advising the City People's Committee on the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.
