During the official visit to the UK with General Secretary To Lam, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited Evelina London Children's Hospital, one of the UK's most modern and prestigious medical facilities.
According to VNA correspondent in the UK, at the hospital, Dr. Owen Miller, Deputy Director in charge of professional affairs, along with Dr. Simon Filson and Dr. Florian Bast, gave an overview of the history, activities and cooperation between Evelina London and Vietnamese hospitals in the fields of surgery and medical training.
After hearing the introduction, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited the pediatric cardiology ward, kindly asked about and gave gifts to the children being treated at the hospital.
The First Lady was moved to witness with her own eyes the world's leading advanced child health care model, a fusion of scientific wisdom and compassion.
The Lady emphasized that healthcare is always a field of concern for the whole society, because it is directly linked to the quality of life, especially the care of children's health, the young buds need to be loved and protected with all devotion.
Appreciating the humanistic values in Evelina London's healthcare model, the Lady was moved to learn that over the years, the hospital's doctors and nurses have participated in medical cooperation programs in Vietnam, directly examining, consulting and performing surgery for Vietnamese children.
The wife of General Secretary To Lam shared: "It is the golden hands and kind hearts of doctors that have lit up hope, giving a second life to many unfortunate Vietnamese children with illnesses."
She believes that helping children have “normal lives and brighter futures” is not only a medical achievement, but also a living testament to humanity and the connection between hearts, transcending all language and national boundaries.
Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly said that in Vietnam, every year, many children are born with congenital defects. Although the country is developing rapidly, resources are still limited, especially in remote areas where children have difficulty accessing high-quality medical services.
Thanks to the expertise and kindness of Evelina London doctors, many Vietnamese children have had successful surgeries, and can smile fully for the first time after treating cleft palates, or walk on their own two feet after complicated surgeries.
The General Secretary's wife emphasized: "This is a clear demonstration of the great significance of international medical cooperation and a beautiful symbol of friendship between Vietnam and the UK."
Highly appreciating the effective and humane cooperation model between Evelina London Children's Hospital and Vietnamese hospitals, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her hope that this cooperation will continue to be expanded in the coming time, not only in medical examination and treatment, but also in training, research and development of a modern pediatric medical system, for the healthy future of children of the two countries./.
