On November 2, the working delegation of the Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee went to An Thoi Ward to survey and work with relevant agencies on two projects expected to be built here: a sea square and an international hospital. On the morning of November 2, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee Tran Minh Khoa went to An Thoi Ward to survey a number of key projects in this area in the future. The survey is considered the next step of the local government to increase convenience and experience for tourists and residents, after introducing a series of drastic measures to restore the urban landscape, handle violations, and affect the general landscape in an area with great potential for tourism development such as An Thoi Ward. During the survey, Mr. Tran Minh Khoa said: “Currently, the city is also clearing the red soil in An Thoi area to create a public beach to serve the people and tourists. Parallel to the beach, there will be a sea square and a landscape axis to meet the needs of enjoyment. This is a very important task that the city and An Thoi ward have been implementing vigorously, so that in the near future, the beach will be cleaned up, and there will be no more encroachment on the beach causing a messy situation."

Mr. Khoa also emphasized the need to drastically implement and speed up the progress of projects to increase the attraction for domestic and foreign tourists, and have more infrastructure to welcome the increasing number of international visitors to Phu Quoc.

Two projects were “revealed” during this survey by the city leaders, including the sea square in the Bai Dat Do area and the An Thoi international hospital. Both projects were invested by Sun Group Corporation - a business that is making strong contributions to the development of economic infrastructure, tourism and entertainment in the south of the island. The Bai Dat Do area in An Thoi is considered an area with great potential for tourism development, but is currently still wild, with muddy roads, spontaneous stalls and makeshift waiting rooms encroaching on the sea. The transformation of this area into an international-class tourist destination will create a new image for Phu Quoc in the eyes of tourists: civilized, modern, more sustainable development, no more overcharging, and sloppy landscapes. When the Sea Square comes into operation, Bai Dat Do will transform into a new unique tourist center of Phu Quoc. Located next to the world- famous entertainment ecosystem such as Hoang Hon Town and the resort ecosystem at Bai Kem, the Sea Square will enhance the experience for visitors by opening up a new entertainment space, gathering attractive events and festivals, increasing convenience for the people of the Pearl Island, and at the same time attracting domestic and foreign tourists. In particular, the renovation of Bai Dat Do into a sea square will help Phu Quoc have another unique beach, helping tourists have more experiences of swimming when choosing Phu Quoc as a destination. "The renovation of An Thoi red soil beach into a bathing beach will help synchronize, creating a very good highlight for people and tourists", Mr. Tran Minh Khoa assessed when surveying this area. It is expected that the sea square will be planned to include a 1.3km long walking street stretching along the coast and a sea-facing square axis connecting from the main road. The sea-facing square axis will create a large public space, suitable for water music and light performances, outdoor festivals and carnivals. Then, visitors will go to the coastal walking axis, connecting unique works including the Elephant Ear Theater, the International Ocean Exhibition Center, restaurants, bars and outdoor exhibition spaces... The "heart" of the sea square will be the Sea Star Square, honoring the starfish - one of the symbolic creatures of Phu Quoc. The total area of this project is expected to be up to 12 hectares, promising to be a super project that completely changes the face of An Thoi ward. In addition to entertainment facilities, another super project revealed in this survey is An Thoi International Hospital with international standard health care facilities and a Mediterranean-inspired design. When launched, the project promises to complete the chain of facilities, creating a synchronous infrastructure in An Thoi, meeting the needs of ensuring health and high-class medical care services for all residents and tourists in Phu Quoc. "In fact, the health care system is always the top priority for tourists. A tourist resort combined with good health care will create a synchronous factor for tourists to feel secure in playing and relaxing at the destination," Mr. Tran Minh Khoa shared in the survey and placed high expectations on this international hospital project. According to Mr. Khoa, Phu Quoc city also plans to promote waste treatment, wastewater treatment system and clean water supply project. In the coming years, projects will be thoroughly implemented to maintain the image of Phu Quoc as an attractive destination for tourists, orienting it as a new attractive destination in the world. The promotion of urban renovation through new projects and utilities has received strong support from An Thoi residents, especially households doing tourism business. Ms. Phuong Hoa, owner of a mini hotel and restaurant here, said: "I firmly believe that Phu Quoc still has a lot of potential to develop further, especially when the urban face is renovated and synchronized. Having a developed and clean tourism infrastructure will help our people benefit a lot." With new projects, Phu Quoc will increasingly increase its appeal in the future, becoming a sustainable tourist destination. Investing in public spaces, public utilities, and international standard infrastructure is the fastest way to help increase the length of stay of tourists when choosing the "pearl island" as a destination. In the future, Phu Quoc will increasingly have a new and more worthy appearance - just as the international media has continuously praised recently - the island in the top most wonderful in the world.
