After more than 2 years of implementing the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress (term 2020-2025), scientific research and technology application activities have been focused on and promoted. The Department of Science and Technology has coordinated with localities, departments, enterprises, institutes and schools inside and outside the province to grasp the needs, thereby placing specific orders with units to support research on local and industry issues. Up to now, the Department has proposed and advised the organization of a scientific council to review and submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval dozens of S&T tasks under the Program to support the application and transfer of S&T advances to promote socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic minority areas; S&T tasks serving the framework project of S&T tasks on provincial gene funds for the period 2021-2025; S&T tasks serving the Intellectual Property Development Program to 2030, etc.
According to Mr. Duong Binh Phu, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, the application of science and technology has brought great benefits to the development of economic sectors. In the agricultural sector, the productivity and value of agricultural and food products have increased, promoting the process of economic restructuring, labor in agriculture, rural areas and building new rural areas for localities. Thereby expanding the market, increasing export capacity through the certification of VietGAP, GlobalGAP and other standards; gradually building production - consumption chains of agricultural and food products towards ensuring food safety.
In the field of industry and technology, Phu Yen has implemented topics and projects to serve the work of selecting technology and improving technology suitable to the conditions of the province, especially processing technology, creating highly competitive products.
In the field of information technology, the province promotes its application in state management and operation in the direction of integrating smart utilities; strives to bring technology to rural areas, serving to improve people's knowledge and contributing to the development of information technology infrastructure at the grassroots level...
Recently, the Provincial Science and Technology Council has accepted the project of Experimental planting of some tulip varieties in Phu Yen carried out by the Phu Yen Science and Technology Center (Department of Science and Technology).
“The completed project has added a new subject to the local crop structure, selecting two tulip varieties with large flowers, long natural durability and beautiful colors. This is the initial basis for building a tulip growing process in Phu Yen,” said MSc. Nguyen Trong Luc, Deputy Director of Phu Yen Science and Technology Center.
