Phuong Nghi receives decision to recognize commune as meeting new rural standards

On the morning of November 9, Phuong Nghi commune (Nhu Thanh) held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the commune as meeting new rural standards in 2024.

Phuong Nghi commune has a total natural area of ​​3,610.87 hectares, 1,127 households with 5,039 people, with 4 ethnic groups living in harmony and solidarity in 7 villages. Of which, Muong ethnic group accounts for 87%, Kinh accounts for 11%, the rest are other ethnic groups. In 2012, implementing the National Target Program on building new rural areas, Phuong Nghi commune only achieved 2/19 criteria, average income per capita reached 7.8 million VND/person/year, the rate of poor households is still high at over 50%, infrastructure is not synchronized, traffic does not meet the requirements.

Leaders of Nhu Thanh district presented the Decision recognizing the commune as meeting the new rural standards and a bonus of 500 million VND from the Provincial People's Committee to Phuong Nghi commune.

With the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people check, people enjoy", along with mobilizing resources, the movement to build new rural areas has spread to all classes of people in the whole commune, achieving many important results. After more than 12 years of building new rural areas, the commune has mobilized a total budget of 448,641 million VND. Of which: Central and provincial budget is 96,104 million VND, district budget is 31,624 million VND, commune budget is 6,096 million VND. Capital for integrated project programs is 5,870 million VND, enterprises are 1,235 million VND, credit loans are 17,030 million VND. Mobilizing resources from people's contributions is 290,682 million VND. Of which, contributions in cash, in kind, working days, and land donation to build welfare facilities are 24,120 million VND. People themselves built, repaired, and renovated houses for 266,562 million VND.

The commune has focused on directing the implementation of the plan to restructure the agricultural sector and agricultural production towards improving quality and sustainable efficiency, applying mechanization to the fields, developing a plan to mobilize people to convert ineffective rice land to aquaculture combined with land accumulation and concentration in the spirit of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU dated January 11, 2019 of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, shifting the structure of crops and livestock, introducing high-value crop varieties and livestock into production, developing farm and household economic models.

The total annual grain output reaches over 1,980 tons, livestock development is stable, annual meat output reaches over 250 tons, aquaculture production grows quite well, business is profitable. The commune is interested in directing the implementation of production development models that bring high economic efficiency such as beekeeping for honey, snail farming, French pigeon farming, greenhouse melon growing according to VietGAP process associated with product consumption... Overcoming the situation of small-scale, fragmented production to reduce investment costs, bring economic efficiency, increase income and solve employment for people.

In addition, the commune always encourages and creates conditions for enterprises, collectives, individuals and households to develop rural industries, expand service types such as: agricultural and forestry product processing, construction material production, commercial services, road transport, mechanical repair, etc. Up to now, there are 6 enterprises and 83 business and service establishments in the commune. Since then, the household economy has developed, the number of well-off and rich households has increased, the average income per capita has increased to 45.5 million VND/person/year, the rate of poor households has decreased to 4.1%, near-poor to 2.0%. Up to now, 100% of rural roads have been asphalted, concreted, have sidewalks and drainage systems, built flower beds, planted trees, ensuring a bright - green - clean - beautiful environment.

At the ceremony, authorized by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the leaders of Nhu Thanh district presented the Decision recognizing Phuong Nghi commune as meeting new rural standards and a bonus of 500 million VND from the Provincial People's Committee to Phuong Nghi commune.
