According to Gamerant , Pokémon Legends: ZA was officially released on October 15 on Nintendo Switch, marking the return of the real-time action role-playing game series. Despite receiving great attention from the community, this game is facing mixed reactions related to the quality of operation and information leaked from the unreleased downloadable content package.
One of the most controversial issues comes from the expansion (DLC) that has not yet been released but has already appeared unofficial information. Accordingly, three Pokémon Absol, Lucario and Garchomp will receive a second Mega evolution form. This is unprecedented in the history of the game series, raising questions about the balance in the combat system and the ability to exploit old content in a new direction. On the contrary, Flygon - a Pokémon that the community has long requested to have Mega evolution, continues to be absent, making a part of the players disappointed and think that the developer's choice is unfair.

Pokémon Legends: ZA is set in the rebuilt city of Lumiose, revolving around the conflict between technology, urbanization, and the existence of Pokémon in modern society.

Aside from the content, the game's performance has also been a point of contention. Although Nintendo confirmed that Pokémon Legends: ZA is playable on both the previous generation Switch and the Switch 2, many users have reported that the game shows signs of frame drops, especially when fighting large numbers of monsters or moving quickly around Lumiose City. On the Switch 2 platform, this phenomenon is reduced but not completely gone, raising doubts about the game's level of optimization for different systems.
Another notable feature is the free Mystery Gift for pre-orders. The package includes Pokémon Ralts and Gardevoiritem, an item that allows Mega Evolution. While this is a familiar practice for many recent Pokémon games, the limited time to receive the reward until November 30 and the lack of a specific code meant that some players were left without access to the reward.
Design-wise, the game has received positive reviews for its open urban environment, simulating the city of Lumiose with many layers of architecture and interwoven routes. However, this scale also puts pressure on the hardware, especially on the first generation Switch.
The Pokémon Company has not officially commented on the DLC leaks, but pressure from players may force the developer to adjust some decisions to maintain market interest.
