Concerned about and taking care of the health of employees, businesses have proactively implemented practical activities. Enterprises have paid attention to improving working conditions and environment for employees, inviting specialized units to monitor the working environment; focusing on ensuring labor safety and providing labor protection equipment according to regulations.
Many businesses have arranged medical departments to provide primary health care, on-site, and equipped medicine cabinets in factories, coordinating with medical facilities to periodically examine and advise on the health of employees. Businesses pay attention to investing in physical activities and sports, creating a playground for employees to practice, improve their physical fitness, and create a vibrant and cohesive atmosphere within the business.
Lien Son Irrigation Company Limited has more than 300 staff, workers, civil servants, and laborers, of which the majority of workers work at affiliated enterprises, mainly working outdoors, with a large workload, and some departments and positions are in the list of occupations, heavy and dangerous jobs. Therefore, the company always focuses on taking care of and ensuring the health of employees.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sang, Head of Organization and Administration Department, Lien Son Irrigation Company Limited said: “The company regularly and periodically coordinates with specialized units to organize training on labor safety, labor hygiene, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue for employees; at the same time, fully equips employees with protective gear, coordinates inspection of equipment and machinery, and monitors the working environment at affiliated enterprises. Organizes periodic health check-ups twice a year for employees; promptly visits and gives gifts to encourage sick employees; organizes physical education and sports activities to create a playground for employees. 100% of employees are covered by health insurance (HI) and social insurance”.
Paying attention to the health care of workers, authorities at all levels, functional agencies, and the provincial health sector have stepped up propaganda and supported enterprises and labor establishments to fully implement labor hygiene management and occupational disease prevention and control; reviewed and strengthened human resources, facilities, and equipment for medical establishments to meet the needs of labor hygiene management, labor health care, and occupational disease prevention and control; guided and coordinated the implementation of labor environment monitoring and early detection of occupational diseases at high-risk labor establishments...
To facilitate employees in accessing and enjoying health services and receiving timely health care, the provincial health sector has directed medical facilities to conduct health examinations covered by health insurance for employees on Saturdays and Sundays. Up to now, in the province, there are 31 medical examination and treatment facilities that have signed additional contract appendices with the provincial social insurance agency and have implemented health examinations covered by health insurance for employees on days off and holidays to serve employees.
In 2 years (2023 - 2024), the Department of Health organized 3 training courses, 70 communication sessions, and talks on occupational hygiene, employee health care, non-communicable disease prevention and control, and reproductive health care at workplaces for nearly 8,000 employees.
Together with the health sector, other functional departments and branches such as the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Home Affairs, the Industrial Park Management Board, and the Provincial Labor Federation regularly coordinate to monitor the implementation of occupational hygiene, health care, and occupational disease prevention and control at enterprises and labor establishments.
Promoting the role of caring for workers' lives, trade unions at all levels always accompany businesses and workers, actively promoting activities to care for and improve workers' health.
Every year, Trade Unions at all levels coordinate with medical facilities to carry out propaganda, consultation and health care activities for employees, supervise the assurance of working conditions, environment and occupational safety at enterprises; sign coordination programs and cooperation agreements with health care units and organize cultural, artistic and sports activities for employees.
On average, each year, the Provincial Federation of Labor coordinates to organize health screening for at least 5,000 workers in industrial parks and clusters; organizes at least 2 provincial-level cultural, artistic and sports activities for workers.
Recently, on the occasion of launching Workers’ Month, the Provincial Labor Federation coordinated with Vinh Phuc International Hospital Joint Stock Company (Vinh Yen) to provide free health check-ups and cancer screening tests for more than 1,500 workers. Most of the workers were excited to participate in this activity.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan, a worker at Jahwa Vina Co., Ltd., said: “Because of the high cost, I have never been screened for cancer. Having a free health check and cancer screening, I feel very secure because I know my health status. I am very pleased that the Union and the company always care about the health of employees.”
With many positive and effective measures, all levels, sectors and enterprises not only care for, protect and improve the health of employees - "valuable assets of enterprises", but also contribute to ensuring the quality of human resources, improving production and business efficiency, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
