BHG - Taking advantage of fertile land and abundant water resources, in recent years, Quang Binh district has actively mobilized people to renovate mixed gardens (CTVT), build model gardens, and plant trees with high economic value. Up to now, many gardens have become model gardens, which are the main source of income, ensuring the livelihood of households participating in the renovation.
We had the opportunity to visit Yen Binh town (Quang Binh), and were taken by town officials to visit the family of Mr. Hoang Xuan Bac, group 1, Yen Binh town, a typical CTVT household of the locality. In the group, everyone was attracted by the cleanliness and beauty of the concrete roads, the rows of colorful flowers, and the green fences along both sides of the path leading to Mr. Bac's house. In particular, we were able to admire the lush, green gardens with many types of fruit trees and neatly and beautifully planned fish ponds.

It is known that Mr. Bac's family garden has an area of over 2,000m2, arranged to grow all kinds of fruit trees with 20 grapefruit trees, cinnamon trees, ornamental roses, guava, lemon, sapodilla. The income from selling fruit brings the family over 50 million VND each year. In addition, his family also has 2 fish ponds with a water surface area of over 600m2, raising Tilapia, Grass carp, and Common carp, selling about 2 tons of fish each year, earning over 100 million VND. "Pick up and chop up" is my family's point of view when deciding to renovate the mixed garden. Renovating the garden, dividing the area to grow suitable trees helps me have a garden to take care of when I am old, and also helps my family have a stable income" - Mr. Hoang Xuan Bac shared.
According to the report of the professional agency, in the 4 years from 2021 to 2024, in Quang Binh district, there are 328 households implementing the CTVT according to Resolution No. 05, including 140 poor households and 188 near-poor households; 230 households have the need and have received loans. The whole district has renovated a total area of nearly 190,000 m2; of which, over 24,000 m2 is for growing fruit trees; over 39,000 m2 is for growing vegetables, tubers and fruits; over 29,000 m2 is renovated for aquaculture and 29,661 m2 is renovated for livestock farming. In addition to supporting poor and near-poor households, Quang Binh district supports 952 other households to renovate gardens with a total area of 552,000 m2. It is expected that in 2025, the whole district will support 35 poor households to renovate with a total area of over 26,000 m2. Up to now, localities have deployed to all households; some vegetable gardens have begun to harvest.
According to the assessment of the professional department, up to now, after nearly 5 years of implementing the CTVT program, the economic efficiency is clearly seen. Immediately after accessing the loan capital, the majority of households have used the capital for the right purpose, effectively renovated, and initially had income. Some localities such as Tan Nam, Ban Ria, Yen Thanh communes, from selling tubers, fruits and vegetables of all kinds, have brought in profits of 2-3 million VND/household/month; in raising pigs, goats, poultry, and aquatic products, there have been high profits of 5-10 million VND/household in Yen Thanh, Bang Lang, Tan Nam communes; 15-20 million VND/household in Tan Bac, Xuan Giang communes; 20-30 million VND/household in Vi Thuong commune.
Comrade Tang Trung In, Vice Chairman of Quang Binh District People's Committee, said: The whole district has thousands of households converting and cultivating high-value crops such as fruit trees, vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants or medicinal plants... To continue promoting the movement of cultivating and cultivating high-value crops, the district directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with communes and towns to actively propagate and raise people's awareness of the importance and role of garden economy; support and guide households to improve soil, build scientific model gardens, in accordance with the overall planning. Orient people to produce crops with high economic value, suitable for local soil conditions, increase the application of scientific and technical advances, associated with linkage and product consumption... Strive for each locality to build model gardens with high economic value in the next stage.
