The artifact is a statue of the Monkey God Hanuman discovered and voluntarily surrendered by Mr. Duong Dinh Luc, residing in Tuyet Diem 3 village, Binh Thuan commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province (now Van Tuong commune, Quang Ngai province). The artifact is made of carved stone, weighs 150kg, and dates back to the 11th-12th century (Champa culture).
The artifact was discovered by Mr. Luc in 2021 while diving in the Vung Buon sea at a depth of 2-4m, 50m from shore.
The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has decided to establish the people's ownership of buried, hidden, buried, or sunken assets that individuals randomly find and voluntarily hand over to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the form of handing over the assets to the Provincial General Museum for organization and management; coordinate with relevant agencies and units to reward individuals who discover the assets according to regulations.
