This morning (September 1), at October 30 Square, from 7:30 to 9:30, visitors can experience flying a level 7 hot air balloon and visit a hot air balloon on the ground from 7:30 to 10:30, depending on weather conditions.
The lantern night will be held at two locations: October 30 Square, from 7:30 p.m. on September 1 and Ocean Park from 7:30 p.m. on September 2. The ground decoration balloons will take place on September 1 and 2, 2024 at October 30 Square.
Besides the Hot Air Balloon Festival, in Ha Long City there is also a supporting activity of paragliding, with a flight route from Bai Chay flying over Cua Luc Bay to October 30 Square and vice versa.
The festival will have about 20 hot air balloons participating, including: hanging hot air balloons, performance hot air balloons, performed by experienced pilots. Currently, the People's Committee of Ha Long City is also closely coordinating with the hot air balloon flight organizer to ensure appropriate and effective flight activities. Rescue plans on land and sea, traffic safety work, security and order around the festival site will also be strictly managed, controlled and proactively handled in case of unexpected situations.
In the afternoon of the same day, also at the above location, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., visitors are free to visit the ground hot air balloon; from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., visitors can experience flying in a level 7 hot air balloon; in the evening from 7:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy art performances, a night of hot air balloon lanterns, and from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., visitors can experience visiting a level 7 hot air balloon and visiting a ground hot air balloon.
On September 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at October 30 Square, visitors are free to take photos and visit; the time to experience hanging a level 7 hot air balloon is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Also on September 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at Ocean Park beach, all hot air balloons will be moved here to prepare for the hot air balloon lantern festival.
From 7:15 pm, visitors will come to attend the hot air balloon lantern night, "Heritage City - Colors of Ha Long" with activities such as: hot air balloon fire dragon performance to greet the audience, hot air balloons are set up on stage at the same time, creating a special lantern effect.
In addition, according to the People's Committee of Ha Long City, besides hot air balloon activities, there are also paragliding activities.
Ha Long City notes that hot air balloons can only fly with winds of level 3 or lower on the Beaufort scale, no rain, or outside temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius. The organizers will adjust the flight experience time according to weather conditions to ensure safety.
The organizers can accommodate up to 600 people to experience hot air ballooning within 2 days and depending on weather conditions (following the safety instructions of the organizers).
The maximum height when flying a hot air balloon is 50m (from the ground to the bottom of the basket) according to international standards. The hot air balloon is securely tied to a fixed position to ensure maximum safety for the flyer.
People with heart disease, high blood pressure and children under 7 years old should not fly. Smoking and ignition devices are prohibited inside the balloon.
