The newly built house of Mr. Ma Van Tuyet's family, Tay ethnic group, Dong Giang village, Trung Son commune, was just completed at the end of June. Previously, the rickety wooden house precariously located halfway up the mountain always made him worried every time there was a storm. Now, the sturdy level 4 house with a corrugated iron roof, tiled floor, supported by the Temporary House and Leaky House Elimination Program has helped his family settle down and confidently develop their economy .
Police force and officials of Chiem Hoa commune help people demolish old houses and build new ones. |
“The new house is not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also a motivation for me to take care of my business and raise my children. Without this program, I probably wouldn’t have been able to do it in my entire life,” Mr. Tuyet shared.
Mr. Tuyet's family is just one of thousands of poor households and policy households in Tuyen Quang that have benefited from the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses that the province is vigorously implementing. One of the key solutions that Tuyen Quang has persistently implemented is to take the people as the main subject, not passively waiting for support but participating in the implementation process. Many households have contributed land, provided materials for the roof and foundation themselves, or joined hands with brothers and relatives to build, reducing labor costs.
According to the report of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in the Province, the total number of families supported in the province is 15,868 houses (11,767 newly built; 3,972 repaired). By the end of July 2025, the province has completed over 13,508 houses. Of which, the province completed the goal of eliminating temporary houses for people with meritorious services on July 24.
Despite many positive results, the implementation process still faces many difficulties such as remote areas with difficult access, increasing material prices, and some households not having legal land or lacking the ability to pay. Currently, the province has 2,360 houses that have started construction in 67 communes of the province.
To overcome the difficulties and determined to complete before August 31, the province has directed departments, branches and localities to flexibly implement solutions. The province's consistent viewpoint is not only "having a house to live in" but also "having a quality house". The houses must ensure the criteria of sustainability, safety,
According to the latest direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee, departments, branches, localities and People's Committees of communes and wards focus on synchronously implementing key tasks. In particular, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions is assigned to take the lead in advising on the development of a Peak Plan from August 1 to August 31, 2025, with the principle of "6 clear": clear people, clear work, clear authority, clear responsibility, clear time, clear results. At the same time, coordinate with units to review and accurately update data on households in need of support and monitor construction progress every day. The Department of Finance is responsible for advising on balancing resources to promptly support funding for households that have built houses but have not yet received support. The Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police, based on the request of the communes and wards, will mobilize forces to help workers, ensuring construction progress.
The People's Committees of communes and wards shall review and summarize the implementation results and report to the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions before August 15, 2025. For communes and wards that have not completed their plans after the merger, urgently complete the Commune-level Steering Committee, with the Party Secretary as the Head of the Committee and the Chairman of the People's Committee as the Deputy Head of the Committee, and at the same time assign specific tasks to each member according to the "6 clear" principle, closely monitor each household to have appropriate support solutions...
The province is also proposing that central ministries and branches supplement capital sources, while continuing to mobilize businesses and charitable organizations to ensure that no household is left behind.
With high political determination, methodical approach and synchronous participation of the entire political system, Tuyen Quang province is making great efforts to complete the target of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area before August 31, 2025. This is not only a journey to build a warm home, but also a vivid demonstration of the correct policy of "leaving no one behind".
