The National Committee for Children has recently sent a document to the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Communications; central agencies of mass organizations and People's Committees of provinces and cities regarding ensuring a safe living environment and preventing accidents and injuries for children.
Young children who were victims of the fire are being cared for and treated at Bach Mai Hospital.
In the official document, the National Committee for Children stated that a recent fire on Khuong Ha Street resulted in serious consequences with a large number of casualties, including many children.
In light of the above situation, the National Committee for Children requests that ministries, departments, organizations, and People's Committees of provinces and cities pay attention to and direct the implementation of measures to prevent and combat accidents and injuries to children, especially those caused by fires, explosions, drowning, and traffic accidents.
Accordingly, the National Committee for Children proposes the effective implementation of Decision No. 1248/QD-TTg and the Prime Minister 's directive on preventing accidents and injuries to children; building and allocating resources, and strictly implementing the Prime Minister's solutions and requirements for creating a safe environment and minimizing accidents and injuries to children in localities.
Inspect, investigate, and promptly and strictly handle violations related to accident and injury prevention, especially accidents and injuries to children caused by fires, explosions, drowning, and traffic accidents.
Authorities and local governments are reviewing and evaluating the implementation of criteria for safe homes, safe communities, and safe schools to ensure a safe living environment for children.
Authorities should strengthen communication and education to equip parents, families, and communities with knowledge and skills to create a safe living environment and prevent accidents and injuries to children. They should commend and promote exemplary individuals, organizations, agencies, and governments that effectively implement accident and injury prevention and control measures for children.
Ministries and sectors should strengthen inter-sectoral coordination in directing and implementing work to prevent accidents and injuries to children; mobilize the participation of mass organizations and the public in detecting, monitoring, reinforcing, renovating, and repairing structures and locations that pose a risk of accidents and injuries to children.
Ministries, departments, organizations, and localities shall compile and report the results of reviews, inspections, and audits regarding the responsibilities of agencies, organizations, schools, and individuals in building a safe living environment and preventing accidents and injuries to children in their 2023 report on child-related work, to be submitted to the Prime Minister and the National Committee for Children.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, as of September 14th, 29 students were victims of the mini-apartment building fire in Khuong Ha. The Hanoi education sector has launched a campaign to provide material and emotional support to the victims and their families.
